Yesterday I visited civic heroes: Adi has been in hospital for weeks after a vicious beating by violent settlers while peacefully protecting Palestinians in the West Bank. I admire her quiet strength and compassion and wish her a full recovery. Her attackers are still at large.

I am deeply saddened about the tragic news from Tammoun. My thoughts are with the two surviving sons of the Bani Odeh family, who will have to grow up without their father, mother and two siblings. A transparent and thorough investigation by the Israeli authorities is needed.

Our solidarity is with Gouverneur Dr. Laila Ghannan and all Palestinians facing brutal settler violence, latest in the village of Abu Falah. As FM Wadephul stressed yesterday, such violence must be prosecuted and the rule of law must act.

Clear messages from Berlin: Chancellor Merz warns annexation steps in the West Bank, incl. E1, “would complicate the two-state solution”, calling them “a big mistake.” FM Wadephul: “We condemn clearly” the violence of settlers; Israel and its legal system “must act decisively.”

The recent wave of settler violence in the West Bank, leaving several Palestinians dead over the weekend, is deeply troubling. Violence against civilians is unacceptable and must be investigated and prosecuted.

It is possible and necessary to be appalled by both: Iran using cluster bombs against Israeli civilians - and 5 Palestinians killed in one weekend of settler violence. My best wishes to the injured in Tel Aviv and sincere condolences to the bereaved families in the West Bank.

1/3 We are appalled by the violent settler attack last night on the village of Susya, Masafer Yatta. The attack is one too many in a long series of attacks over the past year, including a recent raid on the Oscar-winning director Hamdan Ballal’s home and family.

🇩🇪 supports Palestinian self rule in city of Hebron and condemns settler violence. Status Quo of Ibrahimi Mosque to be upheld. Under Palestinian administrative control, holy sites need to be protected. This was emphasized by head of German Office Anke Schlimm during Hebron visit.

We call for Burj Al-Luqluq Community Center in Jerusalem to be able to carry out its important community work without obstruction.
