Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the National Leader of the PRP, has expressed strong criticism of President Bola Tinubu's handling of the escalating violence, stating that every part of Nigeria is now vulnerable to insecurity. In an interview with ARISE News, Baba-Ahmed argued that kidnappings and attacks have become a regular occurrence, with the abduction of schoolchildren highlighting the government's inability to protect its citizens. He asserted that in a democratic society, President Tinubu's record on insecurity would have led to his removal from office long ago. Baba-Ahmed cautioned that Nigerians are likely to face increased exposure to criminality between now and the elections. He urged the government to treat insecurity as a national emergency, emphasizing that the PRP's call for President Tinubu to step aside is driven by concern rather than politics, as public frustration grows.

*2027 IS COMING. REGISTER TODAY — OR CRY FOR 4 MORE YEARS?*
Dear Fellow Nigerians,
This is not just another message. This is a wake-up call.
Right now, across every state, every local government, and every ward in this country, the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is open. But too many of us are sleeping. Too many of us are making excuses. And too many of us will wake up in 2027 crying about bad leaders — when we had the power to change things but did nothing.
*Let me tell you the hard truth: without your PVC, you do not count.*
You can complain from morning till night. You can argue on Twitter, shout on radio, or cry in church. But if you do not have a Permanent Voter Card, you have no seat at the table where decisions are made. You are not a voter. You are a spectator. And spectators do not change nations — voters do.
*Your PVC is your power.*
It is the only constitutional weapon you have to fire a governor who failed your state. It is the only legal tool to remove a senator who disappeared after election. It is the only way to tell a president: "You promised change, but you delivered pain — and now you are going home."
Think about the last three years. Think about the rising prices. Think about the insecurity forcing families to flee their homes. Think about the hospitals without drugs and the schools without teachers. Now ask yourself: *How many of the people causing this pain would still be in power if every angry Nigerian had voted them out?*
The answer is simple: fewer. Far fewer.
But here is the problem — and I will say it plainly. Many of us love to talk. We love to blame. But when it is time to register, we are too busy. When it is time to vote, we are too tired. When it is time to hold leaders accountable, we say "my vote does not count."
*That is a lie. And it is a lie that keeps bad leaders in office.*
Your vote counts. But only if you are registered. Only if you show up. Only if you use your PVC to reward performance and punish failure.
So I am calling on every eligible Nigerian today — yes, you reading this message:
*- If you have never registered, go to INEC now.*
- *If you moved to a new area, transfer your details today.*
- *If your card is lost, damaged, or outdated, replace it immediately.*
- *If you turned 18 recently, this is your first duty as an adult citizen. Register.*
Do not wait for 2027. Do not wait for the rush. Do not wait until registration closes and you start begging for extension. Go now. Take your neighbor. Take your friend. Take your entire compound if you must.
*This is not about party. This is not about tribe. This is not about religion.*
This is about one simple question: *Do you want a better Nigeria?*
If your answer is yes, then prove it. Get your PVC. Because in 2027, the only people who will decide Nigeria's future are the ones who bothered to register.
The rest will sit at home, watch the results on TV, and complain for another four years.
*Do not be one of them.*
Nigeria is broken. We all know it. But it will not fix itself. It will be fixed by citizens who refuse to stay silent — citizens who register, who vote, and who vote wisely.
Go get your PVC today. Your future depends on it.

UN: Weapons Looted from Libya Now in the Hands of Nigerian Extremists
The United Nations has raised fresh concerns over the proliferation of illicit weapons in Africa, revealing that arms looted during the 2011 Libyan conflict have ended up in the possession of extremist groups operating in Nigeria.
Speaking at a meeting on the global spread of illegal firearms at the UN Headquarters in New York, Izumi Nakamitsu disclosed that weapons diverted during and after the conflict that toppled former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi spread across the Sahel region, including Niger, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria.
According to the UN, some of these weapons have since been recovered from extremist groups, underscoring how arms from one conflict can fuel insecurity and violence in neighbouring countries for years.
The revelation highlights the growing challenge of cross-border arms trafficking and its role in sustaining terrorism, banditry, and other security threats across West Africa.
Security experts say the development reinforces the need for stronger regional cooperation, tighter border controls, and more effective measures to curb the flow of illegal weapons.
Do you think Nigeria and other West African countries are doing enough to stop the influx of illicit arms and tackle insecurity?

BREAKING: 61 out of the 81 opposition lawmakers in the House of Representatives have nominated Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere as the next Minority Leader following the defection of Kingsley Chinda from the PDP to APC.
Majority of lawmakers who signed the letter addressed to Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, are drawn from the NDC, ADC, APGA, LP, PRP, APP, APM, SDP, and Accord Party.
With the overwhelming majority, Ugochinyere, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), is now set to become the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives but there are rival moves by some lawmakers working against his nomination with rumours of them supporting Hon. Frederick Agbedi, the member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State.
The lawmakers believe that Ugochinyere belongs to the APP, one of the smallest parties in the chamber with only two members and they're also saying that the position was vacated by Chinda, who is from the South South hence it would be expected that someone from the zone takes the position.
Attention is now focused on Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and whether the House leadership will formally recognise the nomination submitted by the 61 opposition lawmakers.

TROOPS RESCUE MOTHER, INFANT AS KOGI KIDNAP GANG ABANDONS VICTIMS DURING PURSUIT
Troops of 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued two kidnap victims, including a six month old baby, following a swift operation against suspected terrorists in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The victims were among five members of a family abducted when armed terrorists invaded a residence near Solid Rock School in the Ijalu area of Egbe on the night of June 3, 2026.
According to the Nigerian Army, troops responded immediately after receiving a distress call and launched a pursuit operation alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
The pressure mounted by the security team reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon Mrs. Adekemi Idowu and her infant child near the Oro axis as they fled into the surrounding area.
Both victims were rescued unharmed and safely reunited with their family.
Military authorities said troops have intensified search operations to locate and rescue the three remaining victims still in captivity, while efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
The operation highlights the growing collaboration between the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups in the fight against kidnapping and terrorism across vulnerable communities.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
