@jahris what i meant is that all that regulation at the end circles back to the people caring about rent. They may not care about cars driving by themselves or gdpr, but the people bringing the money and the jobs do

@Giapif agree with the business regulation. as for the rest, it appears that we have lost the plot. most people care about making rent, wether they drive the cars by themselves or not.

I get it that people (especially from the US) want to take stabs at Europe and the EU. And rightfully so: the old guard (Germany & France basically) is bleeding money and the only way to make it sustainable is to let poorer countries into the EU so they can take advantage of them. Small example: Two german companies (TUI & Fraport) basically control 50% of greek tourism. And yes, innovation is slow and taxes are high. BUT that doesn’t change the fact that by every other measurable metric it is by far the best place to LIVE Quality of Life ✅ Healthcare ✅ Cost of Living ✅ Work-Life Balance ✅ Education ✅ Safety ✅ Privacy ✅ I respect american hustle culture and to an extent I do the same. But before rushing to dismiss everything the EU has done, think of the mother leaving her two-week old baby to go to work, the ~200 children that never made it back from school, the obesity epidemic specifically targeting poor people, topped off with a gate-kept higher education & healthcare system. Oh and a freaking opioid crisis. The ultimate goal is to make life better for everyone on this planet. And just high innovation and/or low taxes is not enough to get there. Peace

@jahris Also strict regulations slow down progress quite a lot. Look at autonomous driving, UNECE already said we won’t have it regulated here until 2028. Same story with USB C being mandatory. Today it’s fine but what if a new better standard comes out in the future?

@jahris I completely agree with you, but at the same time the regulations here are becoming unplayable, you’re almost scared of opening a business here unless you can invest money to hire a legal team from the beginning.
