The engineers and workers who built and understood the systems in detail have mostly retired or passed away. Recreating the exact supply chain today would require rebuilding entire industries from scratch anyway. Substituting modern materials or electronics would change the vehicle's mass, stresses, performance, and safety characteristics—requiring a full redesign and re-testing regardless.
