24 years ago at the Pentagon, a bunch of rag tag heroes got together and saved lives. I’m honored to be part of that group. We got together and did everything, days before any national groups showed up. Gene Swisher was our lead. He saw the plane come in, and was shortly appointed by the military to head the disaster effort. We worked together for weeks.
The first night an Army chaplain gathered us for prayer. Blood covered first responders, fire fighters, volunteers. The Chaplain quoted Ephesians: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
That spoke to me so hard, and it’s never left me. We need to fight evil, then and now. It’s a big part of why I’m working for Ukraine. It’s the same evil we fight.
