#zhanglinghe (xie zheng) and actor yan yikuan (wei yan) of #PursuitofJade already follow each other on weibo😉 they also interact on P2😄 xie zheng (zlh): you simply never imagined that the blade you once wielded so skillfully would one day turn toward yourself. wei yan (yyk): I raised you for seventeen years. between uncle and nephew, it has still come to this step in the end. xie zheng (zlh): uncle, are you satisfied with how you used this blade called 'xie zheng'?

#PursuitOfJade I'm still slowly making my way through- only on episode 35 now- but I feel like the drama has lost some of its earlier momentum. Ep 35, for instance, gave way too much screen time to Song Yan (who I honestly don't care about). That "karma is a b*tch" moment was probably meant to be funny, but these little moments come at the expense of screen time where it actually matters. The last two episodes even wasted time on the useless emperor's personal feelings, which serves no purpose. We already know he's useless- I don't need to sympathize with his struggles. And now he wants to take Chang Yu as a concubine? Even in fiction, no king takes someone else's wife as a concubine- don't they all have to be virgins? This reverse harem trend- where every male character fawns over the FL- needs to stop. This isn't female empowerment. NOT BY FAR. I don't even like love triangles for either lead. And one more thing: the scene where Xie Zheng learns Chang Yu's father's true identity lacked oomph. It felt completely glossed over. Her father was supposedly the cause of his father's death—that should have been a major emotional conflict, but I barely got any angst from Xie Zheng. This is exactly why I feel the second half forgot that the most compelling thing is the main romance between Chang Yu and Xie Zheng, and that the central conflict should have been the connection between their fathers. I love this drama, I do...but I will call a spade, a spade.

#PursuitOfJade Is anyone watching this on iQiyi? Is it just me, or are we only getting up to Episode 35? I don't see Episode 36 uploaded yet- only the preview. This drama has definitely drawn me in emotionally, though it's not without its flaws. There were a few arcs I felt could have been better written- and no, I'm not comparing it to the novel (I haven't read it). For one, while I love Changyu's fearlessness and courage, and I truly admire her independence, there were stretches- especially during the episodes where she and Xie Zheng were separated- where I felt it would have worked better if she had teamed up with him more. Yes, she's a formidable fighter, but strategic thinking and personnel management usually come with experience and exposure. So it was a bit hard to suspend belief that she could consistently outmaneuver her enemies on her own. Of course, I get that the script is tailored for a new generation of viewers who want a fairy tale- where you really can have your cake and eat it too. But wouldn't the drama have benefited from showing them working together, rather than having her constantly drawing the line? Those bits did frustrate me, and it was made worse having Li Huian hang around her. Maybe the drama wanted to show that Xie Zheng gives her space to come into her own while looking out for her from a distance. I guess it's a romantic notion. 😂 ---- This has got to be the most spoiler-filled finale (Ep40) preview I've ever seen. 😂 That said, I do take comfort in knowing Lin'an is part of their future.

#zhanglinghe and #PursuitofJade being mentioned by Carol Cheng on her radio program 🔥⚔️🎬 (she is a very famous hongkong actress, TV host, and radio presenter) "There's a drama with 40 episodes where the entire cast are handsome men and beautiful women. Zhang Linghe, who is 190 cm tall, became famous worldwide after doing a 40-second runway walk in a long gown and black leather shoes during a New Year’s performance. The drama we just mentioned is called ‘Zhu Yu’ (Pursuit of Jade)"

Military arduous decision, sacrificed many for the peace of the whole realm. His methods was cold and cruel but i can't help but cried for him. Aching so much that his beloved nephew misunderstood and yet no plan to conceal behind the ruthlessness. #PursuitofJade

how could you overlook the fact that changyu saved xie zheng's life and kept him hidden from security guard? their matrilocal marriage not started out as xz simply helping fcy, but it actually mutually beneficial since xie zheng needed to keep his own identity as a secret.
张凌赫的小核桃𖹭@everydayzlh

⚔️disclaimer: I made this post only to rant about how screenwriter ruin the characters. also make supporting characters and viewers overly look down on xie zheng. when I watched the 108 lashes scene on eps 36, I was disappointed with how screenwriter write changyu's dialogue, as even after that sacrifice from xie zheng, she keeps calling him as yan zheng, and not xie zheng. it feels like screenwriter has made her ooc and honestly some of her action in the later part made me can't feel her love for xie zheng. I also see some viewers commented the same. in the novel, if I'm not mistaken, she called him by "xie zheng" after knowing his identity. but in drama, I barely see that. xie zheng even propose her with his real name. xie zheng. it feels like I'm watching xie zheng being refused for the whole time. the screenwriter is so obsessed with "matrilocal husband" things to the point viewers forget that it was xie zheng who helped her with this fake marriage. sw made supporting character leep looking down on xie zheng even after knowing he is the marquis of wu'an. also how exaggerated viewers response to the slapping scene that made xie zheng being hated even if he do that to protect her. in the novel there is a part of zhengyu's grand wedding. but after looking at this, now it's make sense why that grand wedding is not being included. the screenwriter wants to tone down xie zheng's character and made him only be remembered as "matrilocal husband" instead or "marquis of wu'an". thats maybe also the reason why we barely see his battle scene too. there is a plot hole of this grand wedding as xie zheng asked grand tutor tao to take changyu as his adoptive daugther. yes that fake marriage is invalid as wei yan said. xie zheng know that so he asked grand tutor tao to be her adoptive father, so he will be able to give changyu the proper grand wedding. P4: Changyu completely changed from someone who once cared deeply about Yanzheng / Xie Zheng into a totally different person. She no longer loves Xie Zheng, and her characterization feels completely out of character (ooc). She even lets that hooligan who bullied her in the beginning humiliate Xie Zheng right in front of her. Back then, Xie Zheng only pretended to marry into her family to help her support the household. It was a fake marriage. He was helping her, not truly selling himself or actually becoming a live-in son-in-law. But what happened? Both in the drama and outside of it, everyone forgot the word “fake.” They forgot that Xie Zheng was the one helping her. Jin Yuanbao calls him “live-in son-in-law” to his face. People around the female lead keep making sarcastic remarks again and again. Even the female lead herself, it’s as if she truly believes that Xie Zheng married into her family. She forgot that he originally came to help her. She forgot the gratitude and care she once had for Yanzheng. What’s most disgusting is the suppression of Xie Zheng’s real identity. Changyu clearly knows what Xie Zheng cares about most. He cares about being Xie Zheng, his true self. He cares about whether his identity as Xie Zheng is accepted, loved, and acknowledged by her. Yet she stubbornly clings to the name “Yanzheng.” She refuses to call him Xie Zheng. It’s as if she doesn’t love the accomplished marquis with glorious military achievements at all. She only wants the injured, powerless “Yanzheng” who can only depend on her. Even at the very end, she still calls him Yanzheng. Xie Zheng is never truly acknowledged by her. Xie Zheng has humbled himself so many times, confessed his love so many times, shown his insecurities again and again, fearing that she only loves Yanzheng and not him. Yet she continues like this. Even worse, the audience outside the drama behaves the same way. It feels like a kind of domestication, slowly grinding down his complete identity and dignity, pulling him down from the pedestal of a marquis. (1/2)
