Now it is time for the overall Winner of the Church and Community Volunteers Award... It is St Hilda, Redcar #NorthYorkshire Congratulations! #NationalChurchAwards
Hi @crypticcracking. I think the collective term for a group of Cracking the Cryptic devotees should be Cryptids. I do like the implications of the true dictionary definition as well!
@DanielandJorge@KatieGoldin I am so happy I wasn't on your panel who were asked this question. I totally understand the title of the podcast to be can we talk TO neutrinos. I was expecting a very different podcast!
@JEANGil12250102@vicarswifetobe@Heather_Pants Funny how situations change meaning. I always hated that one because it assumed that 1) the food had no redeeming qualities and 2) even if it did we children were so ungrateful that God needed to force us into thankfulness. I'm glad God answered your prayer.
@vicarswifetobe@Heather_Pants The good old standard "For what we are about to receive make us truly thankful" It was said with great feeling as food was rationed
Just fallen down the rabbit hole which is @crypticcracking Simon plays The Witness. Hours of alternating between shouting at the screen in frustration with sitting open mouthed at the absolute brilliance of your puzzle solving skills. Your warmth and kindness shine through. Bravo
@GeorgeReeves94 Without being too intrusive their health also matters. I know of 3 instances where the TIs physical or mental health problems have made a curacy really difficult. It doesn't have to be a problem. The bishop shouldn't have made these particular recommendations. But be aware.
@DanielandJorge Just listened to this excellent episode. But I have a question. If quantum fluctuations were responsible for clumping in the early universe why couldn't they counteract the heat death of the universe? Could fluctuations causing local variation allow gravity to lower entropy?
@lynneguist I think it may be branding thing on England. Boots the Opticians are everywhere. And when I was growing up in 70s all such shops were called opticians.
@Revshoeshopper@whatkatepdoes I agree about the femininity. Sometimes assumptions are made about what is the *right* thing to do, when it is just right for (some) men. Be prepared to question. I have found 'can you explain why?' a really helpful way to challenge without being seen as challenging.
@whatkatepdoes Don’t hide your femininity (whatever that looks like to you) to try and fit in. Don’t shrink or hide your gifts.also not all battles are gender based; many are class, wealth, age etc. above all Gid called you; God doesn’t make mistakes!
Ok lovely followers - on Saturday I am speaking at my old theological college about leading as a woman in the Church of England. If you’re an ordained woman, what would you have valued hearing during your time of discernment?
I was chatting with an Irish friend on Saturday. She said in the 90s everyone in Ireland got sent a small white pill to be taken in case of a nuclear bomb as it would lessen the effects. I had literally never heard anything like this before! Have you?
@TheVicarAgain I read this as rise in funeral prices and went down a rabbit hole using crematoria to heat vicarages before I realised your point was a serious one not a joke. The risk of having too many puns in my timeline.
@nosuchthing Hey I didn't believe you but Katie, a real biologist, on @DanielandJorge just spent 10 minutes on their podcast talking about primordial baclava and primordial pastry! I take it all back! The menu is even weirder than you suggested!
This week we have enough primordial delicacies to drive you nuts, and a good helping of Lancashire-Yorkshire rivalry (thanks James)!
It’s good soup.
