So let me get this straight: Shell reports $7 billion in profits, but claims they can’t afford to lower gas prices. Tax their profits. Now. nytimes.com/2026/05/07/bus…

Study from International Renewable Energy Agency concludes that 'long-standing argument that renewables lack reliability no longer holds'. Solar and wind power paired with battery storage systems are already delivering reliable, round-the-clock electricity at a lower cost than fossil fuel-dominated energy systems in a growing number of regions. Have you been told that industrial carbon pricing adds big costs for oil and gas companies? Reality: It only costs about $0.50/barrel, and companies only pay if they don’t reduce emissions. Janetta McKenzie, Ph.D. explains 👇

"If the industrial pricing system was tightened... the average oil and gas company would pay about $0.50 on the barrel... This is pretty small potatoes." And companies only pay this if they do not reduce on-site emissions.

In December, the Govt will decide if it will renew the glyphosate licence until 2041… •That’s 15 more years of impacts on worms, bees, soils and run-off into ponds and rivers, and glyphosate in your food. Sign Garden Organic’s petition NOW to ban this dangerous herbicide.

Doug Ford is obsessed with downtown Toronto. While people in every corner of the province are struggling to afford groceries, access health care, and find jobs, he's trying to unilaterally seize city lands and public parks. This reckless airport expansion and land grab puts the future of the Toronto Islands at risk, and leaves downtown residents in harm’s way. Who is asking for this? Certainly not the residents of Toronto’s waterfront and neighbourhoods along Lake Ontario. The Premier finds all kinds of taxpayer dollars for luxury private jets, airport expansions that no one asked for, and other absurd vanity projects. Why can’t he do the same to end hallway health care, fix our northern highways, or make life affordable for hard-working Ontarians? Ford needs to get over his obsession with Toronto and start doing the job of a Premier. New Democrats will fight back against this reckless legislation.

The Province has introduced legislation to unilaterally take City land at Bathurst and Queen's Quay. That includes paving over Little Norway Park - probably for a parking lot. Council is meeting today, I am bringing an urgent motion to oppose it and fight back. Unilaterally taking City land is not acceptable. Who knows what they will take next.

What do the governor of the fifth most populous state (Josh Shapiro) and a leading candidate for governor of the first most (Tom Steyer) have in common? They are both publicly challenging cost-of-service (cost + ROE) business model of monopoly investor-owned utilities. (1/2)
