Hey Americans mingling with Japanese folks on X — I need your help. Real quick history lesson: Before WWII, Japan grew a ton of cannabis (hemp) for ropes, clothes, fishing nets, you name it. Their military straight-up needed it during the war. Then Japan lost. The U.S. occupied Japan from 1945–1952. In 1948, under American pressure, Japan passed the Cannabis Control Act. Basically banned growing, selling, or having most of the plant. Hemp farming died overnight. Replaced by American stuff like nylon. Japan’s crazy strict weed laws today?
