@LarryBundyJr Metroid Prime is the only one that immediately comes to mind. That open-ended but also gated design philosophy is hard enough in 2D, I don't blame devs for not wanting to tackle it in a 3D space

Have there ever been any true 3D MetroidVania's ever made? They nearly all seem to be 2D focused. Closest I can think of are Batman: Arkham Asylum, and the 2013 Tomb Raider, Maybe Jedi: Fallen Order, and even then they're very light/hand holdey on the "Metroiding" aspect.

@JackaryDraws I think my biggest fear is if the try to BotW-ify it with the open world design philosophy. I'll be honest that BotW is my favorite Zelda, but it's not the only style I want from the series and that big of a change would not suit the heart of OoT

OOT is in a weird place because I feel like OOT3D was just the right level of graphical enhancement you can get to without feeling like you need to go further If you bring the graphics up to current parity it starts to feel like you need to increase the scale for that fidelity to not feel out of place - and then that raises important questions about how much you’re altering the core design of the game I would have totally loved just having an HD port of OOT3D, but I can’t help but feel this will be more ambitious than that, for better or for worse

I cannot stress enough how Titanfall was, quite literally, the game people ACTUALLY wanted instead of Hero Slop Shooter Concord. The exact opposite of this scenario happened. Highguard was sold as "from the makers of Titanfall" when what people wanted was... well, Titanfall.
