.@iitbombay students Kritti Sharma and Kunal Deshmukh discovered the closest known SUV-sized asteroid to fly past the Earth. The big space rock, named 2020 QG, passed by the Earth on Aug 16, without having any impact on the planet. Great work students!👏 bit.ly/IITBombay_

Two days ago, the @ztfsurvey observed asteroid 2020 QG, which is roughly the size of an SUV, fly close enough to have its orbit significantly changed by the Earth's gravity. It's the closest known asteroid to fly by Earth without impacting the planet. caltech.edu/about/news/ztf…
