Recent poll was done of 3,600 college football fans and 91% of people did not want a 24-team playoff, yet they are going to force feed it to us.

@BlakeJRuffino That’s ok, it still won’t apply! In the nfl 44% make the playoffs, with this possible change the ncaa will now allow 17% of teams in. Growing the game isn’t bad, allowing all 138 teams a legitimate path to the title also isn’t bad. It’s what sports is supposed to be.

Expanding the CFP to 24 Teams is detrimental to the regular season. Coaches get paid on going to the CFP, so of course they want more slots for teams to get in. Why wouldn’t they want expansion? Agents are paid more as well. The NFL model doesn’t apply to College Football.

@PGuy77 People keep saying this, but if you love college football than more games will matter. If you only watch games when espn tells you they are important then sure less games will matter. A Tuesday night Maction game for a playoff berth would feed families. This argument is so lazy.

8-4 teams making the playoff is the real garbage take. College football is special because it’s the one true sport where every game matters. We lose a little more of that with every playoff expansion. We’ve already seen the effects of it. We had a #1 vs. #2 matchup in the Big Ten Championship, and it barely mattered because both teams were safely in either way. College football is at its best when elite teams face real stakes every single week of the season. At the end of the season the only games that really matter are the mediocre teams with 3-4 losses fighting to be cannon fodder. Thats gross.

@MJameson77 @WPIAL_Insider They have players that play on Saturdays, maybe not D1 but college level guys. Even those type of guys would get poached. Western pa is loyal but over time the product would get ruined. I personally don’t care, i go watch big matchups every week. Would continue to do so

@H2P_TD @WPIAL_Insider Canon Mac, Norwin, Senca Valley and others pack the house every Friday night with few D1 recruits. In other states the Catholic schools, despite having more talent, struggle to draw any fans.

Unfortunately this could be an FAFO with private schools. This is a slippery slope, and if PA messes this up, we could have a system like New Jersey or DC…. NOBODY wants that. Imagine the downfall of public school football in Western PA. Would be sad.
