We have had really good results with this approach. Yes there's quite a bit to learn running e.g. your own proxmox, haproxy etc. setup - but the cost reduction compared to Cloud shows just how crazy expensive Cloud is. Besides you often also get 10x more performance and ram compared to using Cloud instances and can often reduce a lot of complexity because scaling often isn't needed anymore. The tradeoff is a the time investment required to learning how to run all this on own hardware.

I'm leaving the cloud 👋 +80% of my SaaS portfolio now runs on bare metal. Why? I have at least 3 major reasons. One of them is, obviously, cost.
