Reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances via social media can be a good way to reach out and rebuild networks when we're all indoors. But also be mindful of the amount of screentime taking away our time for reconnecting with ourselves and our bodies.

Hello all, it’s @margaretwtchung checking in to the account today. I’ll share some reflections on being dis/re/connected in this new normal. #connections

We’re going through this lack of #connections together as a world. I cope with it by being honest about how I feel and expressing the need to establish connections. And many times the feelings are resonated.

Remember to validate our own sadness in feeling disconnected and separated. Not being able to see and be with family and friends can bring up difficult feelings of loneliness, helplessness and even guilt. We are social animals and it is natural that we crave for togetherness.

When experiencing a prolonged period of disconnection and isolation, we might notice a change in sleeping pattern, diet and energy level. That could be our body responding to the stress and change, and waving for our conscious attention to make time for self-care.

@steviemRMN Definitely. The responsibility is ours to create a safe environment and emphasise that their needs are a priority

@HCPnetwork It's also important to remember the power imbalance adults have over children and to empower them to feel safe and in control of their personal safety!

In paeds, facial expressions can be key to building trust. Face coverings mean we need to think outside the box to put children at ease and build #connections

Whilst offering a gloved hand to hold at times of crisis is not at all tue same, often a hand to hold isn't about skin to skin but a physical reminder that someone else cares

Challenges also give us opportunities to consider how we make #connections with others and appreciate the fundamental skills and resources that we have

@steviemRMN Absolutely. Even having someone outside of their family in such close proximity to them may feel strange, confusing or distressing given the messages they've recieved about social distancing

@HCPnetwork This is so true! And so important to remember young people may not have had as much interaction with adults of authority in the last 12 months and may find the whole situation more overwhelming than expected! Time for connection is key!

@nikkilouh @EstherRaePrice Absolutely. 'Doing your best' means doing what you can do whilst also looking after yourself, not doing all that is physically possible.
