Over £400k in funding has been awarded by @ThePandemicInst and @HPRUezi to tackle the growing threats of Oropouche & Mpox viruses, both of which pose significant global health risks. The research will support the development of vital tools to prevent and control these diseases, ultimately saving lives and improving global health outcomes. "Clinical researchers need more time and funding for research" As Academic Vice President for Royal College of Physicians I discussed the @RCPhysicians view with Allison Gardner MP (Science Innovation and Technology Select Committee @AllisonCGardner, @CommonsSITC ) using the work of The Pandemic I Institute @ThePandemicInst as an example. She raised the issue next day in @HouseofCommons debate on pandemic preparedness, where @PatMcfaddenMP Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster @cabinetofficeuk agreed on the value of research. With @AoMRC are pressing @NHSEngland and @DHSCgovuk to support clinical academic careers, and ensure time for research in NHS job plans and resident doctor @RCP_RDC training
