A smile and a touch of humour can often disarm your opponents far more than unbridled anger. @priyankagandhi speech today is a good example: strong points made without any of the bitterness and name calling that is now a part of our polarised politics. Even @AmitShah forced into a smile when he was referred to as someone who could teach Chanakya a thing or two in electoral politics. 😃🙏

Rajdeep's Take on Women's Reservation Bill & Delimitation Debate If the Modi government is truly serious about women’s empowerment and women’s reservation, why not simply stick to the original 2010 bill — a legislation that was already passed in the Rajya Sabha? There are 543 seats; go ahead and reserve one‑third of them for women- @sardesairajdeep #NewsToday

Vinod ji, A school going child will understand what has been dkne done in 1971 & what is being done now using “proportionality”. The current ratio of total seats of all Southern states is 28% of the 543 seats in Lok Sabha. After this bill also the total number is seats of all Southern states in the new Lok Sabha will remain the same 28% of 815 seats. So what is this nonsensical speech & fake narrative being spread that Southern states will lose power etc.? School children will be making memes of all such Opposition leaders that they don’t know basic mathematics😂 Check out the mobiles of kids. You will find out. Speaking with long winding statements in English doesn’t make anyone great. Content & facts are important. They alone make sense. Thanks

#WATCH | Delhi: Political Analyst Tehseen Poonawalla says, "The present Government is absolutely non-serious about bringing in women's reservation. The first time they amended the Constitution was in September 2023. Since that day, I have been saying, why not give 33% reservation on the existing strength of Parliament. You can do it today. No need of getting into delimitation, no need of getting into the census, no need of trying to change the constituencies and no need of this controversy. Women's reservation should not be a backdoor to do delimitation and take away the power of the southern states and Maharashtra. We contribute the most to the country economically. We have followed the Union Govt's guidelines and kept our population under control. Today we are being punished through this backdoor of women's reservation. This should not happen. In this women's reservation, make a provision in this Constitutional amendment that this 33% reservation will not be for nepo daughters, sisters, sisters-in-law, wives or girlfriends of politicians. Keep it for the common women, who are politically inclined and want to represent their constituency in Parliament. Do it right now. Who is stopping you? What is this business of taking away powers of the southern states and my state of Maharashtra? It doesn't make sense."

Honourable @RuhullahMehdi your take and comments on this please!

❗️Breaking: Just saw a copy👇🏽of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, to be introduced in the parliament in the special session this week. It’s worse than what everyone feared - it opens the floodgates for complete reallocation of seats for states and for gerrymandering. ➡️ As expected, in the name of advancing women’s representation, it is basically a move to facilitate early delimitation and to expand the size of Lok Sabha to 815. ➡️ But, contrary to the assurance of the PM and ministers, there is nothing in this bill to ensure that the present proportion of seats for each state would be maintained. It lifts the existing freeze (based on 1971 census, extended to post 2026) completely without any safeguard the government was promising. ➡️ Worse, the decision about which Census would be the basis for reallocation is taken away from the constitution and placed in the domain of law (ie, simple parliamentary majority). ➡️ Actual reallocation and determination of boundaries would be done by the Delimitation Commission, on which the constitution is silent. And this cannot be challenged in a court of law.
