So this is what I would advise every young lady that is above 23, and in a serious relationship. Stop being afraid of what your father would say or do. Be very open about the man that you're dating, and tell him exactly where your confusion lies. Listen to your father, far more than you'd listen to your mother. If you're honest with your father about what he does for a living, his family upbringing and background, and how he treats you, your father will advise you correctly, & without any emotions or sentiments. If your father is late, discuss with that brother or uncle that you know would not mince words with you. Stop doing "I love him so much". You know nothing about love, and you cannot, or should not love a man. Many of you have lied to your fathers, & have taken the advise of your mothers, & regretted it in marriage. Especially if the man is spending on you, & your mother sanctions it. A man spending on you, is not equivalent to love. You feeling excited because he's spending money on you, is not any sign that you love him. Once you realise that your feelings is your greatest enemy, you'd restrain yourself from making regrettable mistakes. Look out more, for a man that talks and invests more for his future and yours, and not the one that is spending his scarce resources on you, without any future or verifiable goals or legitimate and sustainable income. There is a married woman in this community, she's always in my DMs complaining about her husband. She lied to her father about her husband's source of livelihood. He's a yahoo boy. Now the husband abandons her at home, beats her, & goes to spend days and nights with his side chick. She cannot go back to her father to open up. And she now has children with him. You cannot find a perfect man. And your father will tell you that, too. But when you know very obvious red flags, or your inatinct is telling you that something is not right, please be open to your father. While parents also go the extra miles to do some background vetting, there are personal things that only you would know. Your father is not a magician. Help him to help you. End.
