Having a successful startup doesn’t mean you can’t have a family.
When my wife and I decided to have a kid, our situation wasn’t ideal. Here’s what I mean:
1) We lived in a one-bedroom apartment.
2) I’d launched 3 startups but hadn’t made it big. While I’d just raised $3m, I was paying myself the bare minimum to survive.
3) None of our friends had kids. People in our circle thought having a family was a negative thing.
But we did it anyway. Even though everyone thought we were crazy.
Some parts of it were hard. Not having a community around the experience of parenthood was trying. Lonely, even.
But even given our extreme circumstances, at no point did I regret having a child. Just like in entrepreneurship, being a parent has had its ups and downs, but at the end of the day, it’s a continuous source of joy and meaning.

I'm on a mission to help fix my son's allergies and asthma. He's 3 yrs old

he has the 'triad' (allergies, asthma, exzema)
- we don't know what he's allergic to
- he's in a semi-permanent state of flare up (redness, wheezy, runny nose type stuff)
- if he catches any kind of cold, we end up in the ER because his breathing gets too labored (needs nebulizer for hours)

Good Morning from #Germany, where the birth rate has literally collapsed. While women still had an avg of 1.57 children in 2021, in fall 2023 it was only 1.36. This means the birth rate fell to its lowest level since 2009 within just 2yrs. The war in Ukraine, rising inflation & advancing climate change have made people feel more insecure. “Don’t do it.” Everyone I asked in August had the same advice. Flippant, unanimous, unequivocal ... Caretaker governments are temporary, with limited administrative powers and no legislative authority. They have no popular support base and no political capital. The country is totally polarised. Everyone thinks they are the victim. Economy is in terrible shape. No matter what one does, there is no win-win .. But someone had to do it. Whatever the personal cost. Whatever the outcome. The country needed saving. Someone had to take care of it. So we stepped up .. as "caretakers". And did whatever needed to be done. "Sometimes it is not enough to do our best; we must do what is required." Onwards and upwards Pakistan!
