People with ADHD experience something called demand avoidance.
The more someone asks you to do something, the harder it becomes to do it. Even if you WANT to do it.
It’s not defiance. It’s not laziness. Your brain perceives the demand as pressure, and pressure triggers a freeze response.
Someone nagging you to do the dishes? Now you physically can’t, even though you were about to do them.
It’s not you being difficult. It’s your nervous system protecting you from what it sees as a threat.
