Really wish website like this was around when I was selecting my foundation jobs tbh Only way I think we’ll see improvements is open and honest feedback and trusts taking the time to improve things. I’ve seen firsthand the impact trainees can have if they feed things back.

Every year thousands of resident doctors rank NHS jobs with almost no real information about them. What's the workload actually like? ⏱️ Which EPR do they use? 💻 Will seniors support you? 👨‍⚕️ We built something to fix that 🧵

@dstephenh99 @L19901245 @svha_abdl Not all doctors can do extra shifts. For example those who were given their jobs and locations late. They have 9-5 jobs only. Making circa £1800 a month

@L19901245 @svha_abdl It’s also closer to 42k as they have shift allowance on top. They minimise for affect not realising that for many communities the top pay scale is less than that.

I’m so sorry but it irks me to hear £37k is a good starting salary as a doctor because there’s potential to increase in 5-10 years. Apart from the obvious fact that pay shouldn’t be based on potential, our career pathway is no longer linear because of a lack of training posts.

@bananatransit @DrHuw Of course annual salaries look higher because doctors work more hours than the average worker. 48 minimum as opposed to 38/40 hrs Doctors don’t get any additional time off either despite this

@HasanWithMed @DrHuw You aren’t just asking for pay rises for F1s and F2s, you’re asking for a huge pay rise for all residents. Hourly rates are not intuitively understood and the BMA deliberately use them because it makes it seem like doctors are paid less. Use annual salaries.

@DrHuw Nobody is saying RDs are not worth more, but mate the public are sick of paying more and more and more tax and getting nothing back. Nobody wants to be taxed more to pay doctors on very good salaries even more money for a service that won’t improve.

A doctor caring for you at 7pm in A&E earns just £18.62/hr They’re asking to move to £22.67/hr (not even all at once) to undo years of pay erosion. @wesstreeting could stop the strikes by offering a credible path to restore drs pay. The choice is his. bbc.com/news/articles/…

@RossNieuwoudt No idea what you mean by "assistants"? But a 2nd Lt straight out of Sandhurst is going to be less than a senior NCO with 10 years experience. So... soldiery.

Name one other profession that gets paid less than their assistants. That is how far doctor pay has eroded A new doctor starting on £17.6/hr, instead being paid £23/hr is not unreasonable What is unreasonable is promising a journey and stopping at the first lay-by
Farrukh@implausibleblog

Wes Streeting says that the BMA wanting doctors to have the same pay in real terms as they had in 2008 is unreasonable What's your view on #PayRestoration @Melissa_S_Ryan @RossNieuwoudt ? Reasonable or unreasonable?

@PippyBing What’s your solution? There are thousands less GP’s employed, obviously they struggle to see everyone compared to a decade ago. Then you also have this issue of GP unemployment rcgp.org.uk/news/member-re…

@HasanQureshiMed They can’t even be bothered to see you most of the time! Hospital staff, particularly A&E doctors, get just as pissed off with them. Post COVID they’re shocking.

@cati1313 @mlkytee I mean it’s illegal first of all, secondly inappropriate requests can waste precious NHS resources, risk of unnecessary radiation exposure, risk of allergic reactions with contrast CT’s, so many things could go wrong! It’s a privilege not a right.

@mlkytee Honest question: How much harm did those requests cause compared to harm caused by fostering division among colleagues? Are you genuinely acting in the best interest of patients? Instead of seeking solutions, you’re perpetuating a culture that has already led to tragic outcomes
