Part of me can’t wait for Trump to exit the national stage b/c I look forward to quasi-normalcy. The other part of me thinks, “I’ve seen a lot of peoples’ true selves. A complete unwillingness to be honest, the glee is being depraved. Quasi-normalcy will only be an illusion.”

I have people that I went to high school with, and maintained 20 years of friendship amost instantly wish for my death when they found out I defended Trump against lies.
People, plural.
I was intimate with some of these people. Had long term relationships that ended mostly nicely, and maintained communication with them afterwards.
Dumping them wasn't enough for them to wish for my death, but defending him against lies was.

I live in a dark blue state, and I know I shouldn’t be shocked, but I was in mixed company with casual acquaintances, and one of them made a comment about “what happened Saturday“ and expressed disappointment… At first I didn’t realize what they were talking about, but then the person repeated it and then a couple other people in the group nodded approvingly and made approving comments, and I realized that it’s actually an extremely mainstream view amongst Democrats that Donald Trump should be assassinated and killed

Hippies were anti-war during Vietnam because they perceived the Viet Cong as leftist.
If there had been a war against a perceived right-wing regime, like apartheid South Africa or fascist Spain they would have been pro-war.

to make matters worst, they acted like the vietnam war was nonexistent when the only ones who died from it were the locals and the blue collars sons yet as soon as their kind was being drafted they suddenly become very much anti war and treated the veterans like shit when they returned...

Congratulations to the California unions who have gotten over 1.5 million people to sign a petition to put a Billionaire Wealth Tax on the ballot. At a time of massive income and wealth inequality, the richest people in our country must start paying their fair share of taxes.

What they leave out is that they also killed more communists than anyone else and far more of their own people than they ever killed Nazis.
That’s the pattern: not just fighting enemies, but eventually turning the system inward on everyone.
