RPG and D&D books remain some of the @prisonbookprog's most requested books. I think it's crazy that I haven't found a #Criminology article discussing how D&D and other RPGs could potentially boost rates of successful #Desistance, &/or reduce rates of #Prison misconduct, etc.

Instead of a therapist… I want someone who will let me talk out my research ideas once a week, who will gently guide me to realizations, who will tell me “well it sounds like you’ve reached saturation.” And I want them to take my insurance.

@UAB_CJ Honor student Tatyana Martin (mentored by @jeffatuab) won the @SouthernCrim student poster award this year! She'll be entering the MSCJ program in the spring

@PeterMoskos @HeCopes lol, another typo. However, interesting coincidence: my book Code of the Suburb (singular) is often made plural by people.

In a report, I just accidentally spelled “Cops in the Hood” as “Copes in the Hood.” Could make for an interesting collaboration between @PeterMoskos and @HeCopes 👀

@SJacques83 I know some of the narrative criminologists in Europe were doing this, but I don't know if they still are. Also, there is the ethnographic cafe, where they invite ethnographers to discuss their work (but it's sociology in general not criminology).

Do qualitative criminologists have a public, semi-regular (e.g., bimonthly) meet-up to discuss their projects? Especially geared toward/for students? I’m assuming no. Partly because, not enough people would show up to make it worth doing. It’s just a guess, I’d like to be wrong. Thoughts?

@CrimFerret I don’t believe this last bullet-point is an accurate description of the debate 😂🧡 So I wrote this song! It’s meant to be enjoyable by “both sides,” even the wrong one. udio.com/songs/tjj3a3vZ…

I hope this gets the conversation started about the practical and ethical issues with making transcripts and other qualitative data public. The editors of Criminology @VolkanTopalli seem open to discuss. Would live to hear other people's thoughts on it. #Criminology #qualcrim

Pleased that The Criminologist published @HeCopes & my article on the "Transparency trade-off: the risks of Criminology’s new data sharing policy". As board members of #Criminology we felt it was important to discuss possible implications for qualitative researchers &participants

@naturally_crime @UAB_CJ @LindsayLeban After the photo shoot, Sloane and I did a photo-elicitation interview to discuss identity issues. We are now buddies and she sees the beauty in the beard. It's really a heart-warming story.

@LindsayLeban and I are designing an 8week journaling class with women who experienced violence. Each week will have a new journal technique and theme. e.g., we will use @TheHalfArtist 8-panel life story idea. We'd love to hear any other interesting journaling devices!

@HeCopes I’d love to see the photos! But they’re paywalled. Which is why I ask, is there green open access?

In case Dr. Leon Pettiway’s contribution to criminology gets lost in the sea of unsubscribe emails, his book Honey, Honey, Miss Thang is the earliest work in queer criminology that I am aware of. amazon.com/Honey-Miss-Tha…
