**Yes, it's true.** From today (July 7, 2026), all new passenger cars and vans registered in the EU must include an **Advanced Driver Distraction Warning (ADDW)** system per the General Safety Regulation. It uses an interior-facing infrared camera to monitor the driver's eyes, face, head position, and gaze in real time to detect distraction or drowsiness and issue alerts.
