Judged a poster session this week. A few grad students yelled "Oh! The circadian lady!" as I approached. I'm not mad, they're not wrong. 😁🤓⏰

Where are you right now on this activity plot? Do you fit in with the crowd, or are you at the tail of the distribution? HT @kim1n4o for sending this fascinating illustration of #chronotype by @Ros_Rodriguez_

New pre-print led by @DillonMcGovern1 @ampolter @anni3_ly @EmilyDPrevost and @ConnorMcNulty_ showing that a subset of VTA glutamate neurons establish a mu-opioid receptor gated circuit to mesolimbic dopamine neurons and participate in opioid-seeking behavior

@youknowjonrowe That sounds familiar - maybe we read a paper on that in college? Kind of obscure though. Seems the theory never really picked up. 🤷🏻‍♀️

New paper examining the sensitivity of young children's phase shifting response to evening light!
Society for Research on Biological Rhythms@SRBR_Outreach

Like adults, children's circadian systems are highly sensitive to light, as @laurenhartstein et al show in their new #JBR paper. Can bright light before bed explain difficulty in getting children to sleep? Read more here: doi.org/10.1177/074873…

50 being middle aged is a lie to keep you working longer. Most ppl don’t live to be 100. The average life span is 73. So middle aged would be around 36. But if they told you that then you would be less inclined to work until 65.

What a smart “selfish” PI says “It is in my best interest that you take some paid time off*” Burnout is real, and it cost much more time and effort to replace someone than to just tell them to take time off to those that are reluctant**. Also, it is just being a decent human.
