@KevinMcCurdy @susansawesome The graces might be nothing, but it’s against the rules. The stones might be heavy but they are extremely sensitive to any kind of touch. The rules exist to make it fair. We should play fair. If the rules are too hard to follow, then they could change. Maybe not this week.

But the point is this is a weird time to put the enforcement hat on. Surely you don't believe these just started happening in the past two days and never before this. It wasn't an issue for anyone until the Swedes made it an issue, and it's been a clusterf*ck ever since. The only one I really had an issue with was Kennedy's poke (and his reaction), the other grazes are total nothingburgers, but we don't really want to start defining "incidental contact" because that's a disaster in any sport with that kind of rule.

I have this strange idea that if we went back and looked at every rock delivery in the last 100 years we'd find a metric shit ton of this that hasn't been called/never mattered before everyones Amazon magnifying glasses showed up. I can see the issue with the "poke" from Kennedy, to an extent, but these incidental release touches have been a thing as long as I've been watching competitive curling. The rock weighs 42 lbs.

🚫 𝗢𝗟𝗬𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗖 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚: Pontus Orre, sports photographer at Aftonbladet 🇸🇪 – the largest news outlet in the Nordics – fixed his lens on the hog line during 🇨🇦–🇨🇿 today. Guess what he captured? 📸👀 Yep, 🇨🇦 hasn’t learned a thing 😤 #canada #cheating #boopgate

@KevinMcCurdy @susansawesome It’s been an issue for a very long time. Specific players are well known for doing it. And there have been many complaints before. Because it’s the Olympics, the biggest event, and it kept happening, a complaint was made with video support.

@KevinMcCurdy @susansawesome Rewriting the rule or thinking it’s a stupid rule is all fine. But right now this rule exist and all players should make sure they play according to all rules. Even after being called out for their years of not following the rules, they continue doing it in every game.

@susansawesome Honestly they just need to rewrite the rule slightly. I don't care what you do with it before the hogline, really doesn't matter. As long as you release it by the hogline and never touch it again in the glide path, that is the spirit of the rule.

Trying to remember that time when an athlete told another athlete to fuck off and that he doesn't give a shit about the rules. Hmm. Was it during the crazy tennis games in the 80s? Or the shady UFC fights in the 90s? Boxing in 00s? Wait, it was Curling, in the Olympics, 2026.

@CurlingCanada TLDR; no additional cheating was found during the three rounds after the recorded cheating and protests were made.

Yesterday’s men’s curling match between Team Canada and Team Sweden in Cortina was highly competitive, showcasing the passion and commitment of both teams. During the game, officials were called to the field of play and closely monitored for any release rule infractions, including those involving touching the granite following a complaint by Team Sweden. After three ends of careful observation, no hogline violations or stone retouches were found by the officials. World Curling’s statement on the matter can be found here: worldcurling.org/2026/02/statem… The Canadian men’s team also received a verbal warning for language used during the game which we are aware of and supportive. We want to reaffirm that Curling Canada fully supports fair play, respect and sportsmanship, values that are fundamental to our sport. We appreciate the support and enthusiasm of curling fans everywhere, and we look forward to continuing to cheer on and support our Canadian teams in Cortina on their journey.

The weirdest part about the curling gate is that it took me a minute to skim to rules and understand them. Yet dedicated podcasts and even official teams doesn’t seem to understand. How do you not know the rules of the sport you cover? #Olympics2026

@ScottBilleck And today Canada got officially warned for both cheating and inappropriate behavior. The rules are clear for anyone who can read.

This curling controversy sounds like sour grapes. It’s not cheating, and the video validates that.

#Canada have not been playing according to the #curling rules. It’s not complicated. Rules clearly say that you need to send off the stone before the line, and by using the handle. Canada send the stone off with the finger, and at least one time also on the line. #Olympics2026

You were wrong to react this way. This is not Canadian. You should have let the rules speak louder than you.

@HelloAndy @WhiteHouse It's likely a meme tying into Trump's Greenland ambitions, but the image has factual errors—penguins aren't native to Greenland (they're mostly Antarctic). Whether it's oversight or deliberate absurdity, it's sparked a lot of online fact-checking and laughs. What do you think?

Stay safe out there. If you’re approached by masked armed men in an unmarked vehicle, please stop your car and unlock the doors - they might only want your money, phone and car, and you’ll be fine. In worst case it’s government officials who will shoot you dead.

It would be nice if some of the Twitter diaspora returned. So many creatives, but also many developers, that generally enriched the experience are no longer active. Those that performatively left and those with a seething hatred of Elon probably won’t be back soon, but a lot of people just disengaged on vague cultural grounds that can be reevaluated. There are probably some technical tweaks to the algorithm that could make them more comfortable. I don’t mind the existence of independent echo chambers that people are happy within. There is only a problem when some echo chambers are allowed and others aren’t. Reach out to lapsed friends!
