Every virtual world was built from a clear plan — proof that strong computer science instruction isn’t just about tools, but about teaching students to structure ideas, solve problems, and bring their creativity to life.

What does computer science look like in a second-grade GT classroom? Our very own @BlakeSchneden recently spent an afternoon with David Loveless at @SanMarcosCISD, a teacher who’s redefining what creativity can look like with the Hello World platform. 🧵

Before students ever opened the platform, Mr. Loveless equipped them with structured workbooks and guided questions to help organize their thinking.

Students began by researching a “passion project” topic, from hurricanes to comic books, then transformed their findings into interactive virtual experiences on Hello World. What stood out most was the intentionality behind the creativity.

Coding experience or not, you’ll walk away with ready-to-use resources for expanding CS access in your own classrooms.

Mr. LaRue will showcase real examples of outcomes on how students: • Design immersive 3D worlds • Build engaging AI-powered projects • Participate in interdisciplinary quests aligned to CSTA and state standards
