Argentina OOP will likely be an issue as they progress in this competition. A midfield of Enzo and Mac Allister doesn’t give you enough security out of possession, especially against elite transitions. Both are aggressive readers of the ball, but neither is a natural ball-winner or space-controller. When you pair them together, the distances between lines can open up too easily, and if the press is beaten, the backline gets exposed. That’s where the balance looks off. Messi and Lautaro up top means your first line of pressure already lacks intensity for long stretches, so the midfield has to compensate more. If Almada and De Paul are also pushing high and wide, Enzo and Mac can get isolated centrally. Against Jordan, Algeria and Austria, they might get away with it because Argentina will dominate possession. But against stronger teams with runners between the lines or quick vertical play, that setup will be targeted hard. Scaloni may eventually need a more defensive-minded presence in there someone who protects space first and allows Enzo to dictate rather than defend fires all game.
