Although HFD recommends avoiding outdoor fires during this weather watch, we’d like to remind Houstonians that fire pits cannot be used on balconies and must be 10ft from a structure.

From @NWSHouston Strong to severe thunderstorms expected today. The main Strongest storms anticipated to be the late morning to the evening. Damaging winds & locally heavy rainfall primary weather concerns. Hail & an isolated tornado cannot be completely ruled out.

HFD cadets participated in a Burn today - a simulated structure fire exercise at the training Academy. They deployed hose lines, conducted primary searches, completed a 360° structure assessment, and extinguished the fire in hot, zero-visibility conditions. Great training! 🫡

An adult male was struck by the train at Hermann Park today. Crews used spreaders and cribbing to lift and stabilize the train and then extricated the patient, who was transported to Hermann TMC with injuries to his lower extremities. Great work by all crews on scene. 🔥

HFD hosted a Women’s Career and Fitness experience at the training Academy today! Participants trained like cadets, toured the academy, and heard from HFD women - from current cadets to leaders of all ranks - sharing their experience and wisdom! thanks to all that joined!

HFD Fire Marshal Marion Spann spoke to students at YES Prep Public Schools this week, sharing her trailblazing career journey. As the first Black woman Fire Marshal in Houston’s history, Chief Spann inspired students to pursue their goals and break barriers. 🔥 #HoustonFire

CADDO FIRE UPDATE: Fire activity remains low at approximately 200 acres with 75% containment. HFD Wildland Division and partner agencies continue unified command operations. Containment lines are effectively limiting fire spread. Nearby residents stay vigilant. 🔥 #HoustonFire

HFD Wildland Division is managing the Caddo Fire in NE Houston near Greens Bayou & John Ralston Rd. Fire estimated at 175 acres, 30% contained. Residents in Verde Forest and east of Thorn St/north of Caddo Rd should be prepared to evacuate if conditions change. Avoid the area. 🔥
