On This Date 20 Years ago, Hurricane Katrina hit the City of New Orleans. that caused 1,392 fatalities and damages estimated at $125 billion in late August 2005. The Hurricane Damaged Six Flags New Orleans a Park Competing with AstroWorld The Park Never Re-Opened.

WaterWorld Originally opened in June 1983, Next to AstroWorld. it was Houston's first major water park.

Did you know, at the end of the 1998 season, Excalibur was planned to be removed and relocated to Frontier City? Unfortunately, during the dismantling process and shipment to Frontier City, the ride was damaged and eventually scrapped in 2005.
