The 4 main differences between the foreign USA and the foreign China from a European perspective
1. China is not laying claim to any territory held by a EU member state
2. China has not actively pushed to start a massive land war on European soil
3. China has not purposely engaged in policies to harm European energy security
4. China does not occupy Europe via post-war treaties and forces on the ground
China is not a European ally...but it is definitely not an enemy like the USA obviously is.

Look - if you lure people into negotiations and then murder them (not just once, but a few times) you don’t get to complain about ‘negotiating intransigence.’ It’s grotesque even to speak this way. People backed into a corner will act desperately and that is predictable.

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US.
France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.)
Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors.
NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

I think the United States military leaving Europe would be the best thing to happen to the continent in decades.
It would be challenging, and unserious politicians would be found out much more quickly. But that’s a good thing.

Hey Ian, when a combatant is captured during a war, that's called a prisoner of war.
When a civilian is abducted, that's called a hostage, namely, the thousands of Palestinian "administrative detainees" kidnapped by Israel.

Those two summarize the intellectual class of the American empire. It is one reason why, regardless of elections in 2026, 2028, 2030…, the US will remain constantly at war as it attempts to keep the 20th century alive in the 21st.

Some basics I learned at Iran's Aerospace park last year:
Iran has a passive defense doctrine which does not seek "control" over its vast skies
Its locally made anti-aircraft systems are highly mobile, positioned at expected flight paths, and designed to ambush enemy aircraft at opportunistic moments
While Iran's ballistic missiles and drones have degraded expensive US radars, AWACS planes and other key logistical pieces while on the ground, its relatively inexpensive anti-aircraft systems are significantly raising the cost of entering Iranian airspace
As stockpiles of Tomahawk and JASSM missiles dwindle, US fighters are forced to expose themselves to increasing risk - and paying the price
