Among our distinguished class of 2022 is our longtime Executive Director & CEO, Justin Rydstrom. 🎓 In his decade of leadership, Mr. Rydstrom was a guiding force in IDEA’s transformation, propelling us into a Bold Performance Award-winning school. He will be missed.

Drum roll, please...🥁🥁🥁 The Board of Trustees of IDEA Public Charter School is pleased to announce Michael A. Wilson, M.Ed., Ed.S., as IDEA’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 27. Welcome, Mr. Wilson! ⭐️

Lifelong friendships were made here. 🥰 While this will not be our last time together, Senior Field Day was one of our final organized events for the class of 2022 and we are so glad we shared this memory.

This is our absolute favorite time of year! The senior prom is when we get to really see our scholars shine ⭐️🤩 & celebrate their many years of hard work & friendships. Here are a few highlights from the prom captured by our staff. We could not be more proud of the C/O 2022!

The scholars in our #CTE Pathways program are crushing it! Last week, they hosted their first ever bazaar, where they curated products based on select target markets of their choice. They were so proud of their success! Thank you to everyone who supported their first bazaar!

Our English III scholars are getting into the creative writing zone, crafting stories about everything - from non-fiction to sci-fi. We create the environment for creative exploration at IDEA. ✍🏾📝 #literature #writing #creativewriting

Flashback to the @oneworld_edu competition - our 9th grade scholar Alaija Snowden is seen here engaged in a discussion about her essay topic during the board presentation rounds. The topic of her research was violence against women. Alaija crushed it! 🙌🏾🤩

They are not just athletes, they’re scholars, and they’re all MVPs to us. 🤩⭐️ We want to take a moment to acknowledge all of our athletes who won awards at this year’s banquet and to thank our amazing Coach for his hard work and dedication to our Timberwolves this year. 🏆

#Deanwood is one of the oldest African American suburbs in #DC & we are proud to share a piece of the rich history of this beautiful community. Last Saturday we hosted the annual #DeanwoodDay at IDEA, with lots of help. Thank you to everyone who showed up & participated. 🙏🏾☀️

Wow, the construction crew unearthed this 50-60 year old @7up bottle, buried in the concrete wall of the old school building! Our scholars were in awe! They marveled at the bottle from the distant past. Who knows what they’ll unearth next. #7Up

Straight from our farm to the table! Scholars from our Urban Agriculture Club recently harvested lettuce and mustard greens that they grew. After washing the produce according to proper food safety protocols, they made their own salad dressing and enjoyed their harvest! 🙌🏾

Our CTE Pathways program is one of the best and we cannot be more proud of the stars that received credentials during our most recent ceremony. 💫⭐️🌟 Congratulations to all of our CTE scholars! 🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Congratulations are in order for IDEA’s own Team Ten Toes (Ashlee Tate, Shalon Walker and Marcus Smith) for competing in the 2022 DC Biz Pitch Competition. ⭐️ This is the commercial they created for their “anti-gun violence hoodies”. They won 2nd place & $150 each! 🙌🏾🥳

In honor of Mental Heath Awareness Month & Timberwolf Appreciation Week, our leadership team transformed the Owens Reading Room into a therapeutic spa. Massage therapists from @spaonthehilldc made our staff feel like royalty. It was truly an oasis. #spa #wellness #mentalhealth
