I have called Cuba's elections democratic. But I'm not the only one. The Minnesota Journal of Law and Inequality referred to them as "remarkably democratic" in 2022. Other scholars have also referred to the elections as democratic. A "one-party," or no-party, rule does not mean people don't have different views or opinions. Marginalized Cubans have rights we don't have in the United States. They did that by referendum with 75% of the country voting.
