60 million Americans would join a union if they could. Weak labor law and lawbreaking employers have become the central impediment to workers having the freedom to form a union.

Strong labor laws don’t happen by accident. Through sustained engagement with Ohio lawmakers, the UA helped pass the E-Verify Worker Integrity Act — protecting workers, improving jobsite standards, and supporting fair competition.

Big news: a federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to end TPS for more than 350,000 Haitians. That’s a win for workers who live and work here legally and keep our communities running. This fight isn’t over, but this is a victory. nytimes.com/2026/02/02/us/…

Political violence is never ok and must be stopped. In June, Minnesota Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, lost their lives, and now Charlie Kirk lost his.   My condolences are with Charlie’s family, especially his young children.

On this date in 2021, the House honored the work of my mentor and friend, Congressman John Lewis by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect against discriminatory gerrymandering and other attacks on our democracy. Unfortunately, the Senate refused to act on it. Today, with unfair redistricting, including potentially in Indiana and across our country, we need this law more than ever.

Hoosiers are worried about their local income taxes going up and rising utility bills due to state Republican mismanagement. Rather than focus on the issues, Republicans want to change the rules of the game while it’s being played so they can cheat their way to stay in power.
