Time for a science lesson. What you are seeing here are contrails. They are man-made, yes, but they are just cirriform clouds. Clouds are made of liquid water, supercooled liquid water, and/or ice particles. Good ol’ H₂O. Contrails are no different. Fortunately for you, H₂O is a chemical. In fact, all things that have mass and take up space are matter. All matter is made up of chemicals. Airplane exhaust indeed contains a few other things such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and very tiny soot particles (which the water vapor emitted condenses onto before freezing). But those are natural byproducts of combustion that is really no different than what comes out of your car. Nobody is “spraying” aluminum into the air. Aluminum is the third most abundant element in Earth’s crust. Tiny particles of it get carried into the air by wind, then get precipitated back down as rain. It also may originate from industrial activities hundreds of miles away. Such particles will get carried downwind and end up in rainwater samples. I love a good conspiracy theory, but there is not one here.

They are terraforming our atmosphere right above our heads while we scroll and comply. How many more "coincidences" do you need?

If it’s just Contrails, why doesn’t it dissipate? Why do they spread out and create a thin haze that lingers all day?

@IdiocracyFiles @SCMountainGoat No. Pressure always decrease with altitude. Water vapor varies significantly depending on weather systems, vertical mixing, jet stream. There is no uniform layer where these are constant. Persistent contrails occur wherever RHi > 100% which can happen across a range of altitudes

@jasonwoody @SCMountainGoat at FL260 and >, pressure and water vapor are mostly constant. there are tight bands at the bottom and top of the pressure range (altitude) where condensation can persist, but these are right at 26k and 40-50k feet.

@SCMountainGoat It persists and spreads out because the relative humidity is high. Probably over 100%. The water already in the area “wanted” to condense. The aircraft exhaust gave it that opportunity, providing nuclei in the form of soot, plus additional moisture.

@SCMountainGoat Hello Michael. Contrails are composed of water droplets or ice crystals, just like clouds. Contrails may dissipate rapid or slowly, or spread out, just like clouds. No conspiracy theory is needed to explain a phenomenon that has been well understood for decades.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the OPs image of a contrail. Who's the one not thinking for themselves?

These are contrails. They are mostly composed of water vapor from combustion of jet fuel. There is no such thing as a chemtrail. Hydrophobia (a fear of water) is a symptom of rabies. These people are rabidly stupid.
