Giving the summerhouse a good clean today, where I overwinter the Aloes...which are doing damn fine. Some turning into beasts that weigh a tonne to move.

Erythrostemon (Caesalpinia) gilliesii at Kew. I keep shouting at mine to get on with it but it’s only in early bud. C’mon!!

@AlanEDown I agree, this is an excellent plant for hot, dry positions. Brittle and breaks easily, but, then, also easy from cuttings.

Epilobium canum (was Zauschneria californica) flourishing in the heat and dryness of this well drained position on top of a wall.

I visited Scotney Castle last week. I don't think I could have picked a better day for photographs

@jmadge33 Cordylines self seed around here, echiums and nerines fight amongst the normal brambles on the cliffs...as long as it doesn't carpet out all others like hotten tot fig then I do mind a bit of invasion

I still find it amazing that Aloiampelos striatula, formerly Aloe striatula is hardy outdoors here! We've no sunbirds to feed on their nectar but will happily make do with the raft of native pollinators that flock to feed on its exotic spires of blooms.

@StalwartPlants I think their seedheads are even more beautiful. I too have noticed this has escaped and thriving amongst the usual weedy collection of bramble etc on an unmade road.

First time I have seen a salsify plant and flower. Grown for the root and is likened to asparagus and oysters although I have never tried one myself.

Luckily here, most winters, the Echiums make it through and seed on unmade roads where the council don't spray. Currently, literally humming with bees.

@TheFlowerShow Forgive me, but I've seen too many AI generated and colour enhanced plant images. I would love to see more photos to see exactly how realistic this image is. Also, in bright sunlight and at the end of the day to see if the colour holds/changes.
