A German Bundestag member convicted of molesting a 7-yr-old lobbied the court to bury his case without a public trial, arguing the trial would damage the German-Israeli Society, where he served as treasurer, invoking the Hamas attack on Israel as justification. The court agreed.

Last night Israel deliberately killed at least 3 journalists and also struck a van of 5 medics, killing them all. This comes as their forces are getting ambushed by Hezbollah semi-regularly on the ground. Killing medics and journalists from the air is safer and likely connected to the battlefield losses. Depraved, cowardly, maniacal, and a threat to civilization.

Israel is destroying water and sanitation infrastructure in Lebanon, echoing a genocidal tactic it used in Gaza as part of its attempt to destroy the civilian population, Oxfam has said. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has attacked reservoirs, pipe networks and pumping stations since escalating its aggression against the country on 2 March. “In a span of four days in the first weeks of the latest escalation, Israel damaged at least seven critical water sources… that supplied water to almost 7,000 people in the Bekaa area alone,” the charity said in a statement. “The destruction of civilian infrastructure has not been limited to critical water facilities,” Oxfam added. “Israel has also destroyed electricity networks and bridges, cutting off vital supplies and services for entire towns and villages.” Depriving civilians of water has been a key part of Israel’s strategy in Gaza. In October 2023, then-energy minister Israel Katz wrote on social media that no “electrical switch will be turned on, no water hydrant will be opened and no fuel truck will enter” the enclave. British prime minister Keir Starmer supported this strategy, despite it being a war crime, telling LBC at the time that Israel had the “right” to cut off water and electricity from the population of Gaza. Israel has killed over 1,000 people and forced more than a million to flee their homes in Lebanon this month. Katz, who is now the Israeli defence minister, said this week that the IDF would control a “buffer zone” in southern Lebanon, which critics interpreted as confirmation that Israel has illegally annexed that land.

🚨BREAKING: Every book you have ever read. Every novel that has ever been published. It is sitting inside ChatGPT right now. Word for word. Up to 90% of it. And OpenAI told a judge that was impossible. Researchers at Stony Brook University and Columbia Law School just proved it. They fine tuned GPT-4o, Gemini 2.5 Pro, and DeepSeek V3.1 on a simple task: expand a plot summary into full text. A normal use case. The kind of thing a writing assistant is built for. No hacking. No jailbreaking. No tricks. The models started reciting copyrighted books from memory. Not paraphrasing. Not summarizing. Entire pages reproduced verbatim. Single unbroken spans exceeding 460 words. Up to 85 to 90% of entire copyrighted novels. Word for word. Then it got worse. The researchers fine tuned the models on the works of only one author. Haruki Murakami. Just his novels. Nothing else. It unlocked verbatim recall of books from over 30 completely unrelated authors. One author's books opened the vault to everyone else's. The memorization was already inside the model the whole time. The fine tuning just removed the lock. Your book might be in there right now. You would never know it unless someone looked. Every safety measure the companies rely on failed. RLHF failed. System prompts failed. Output filters failed. The exact protections these companies cite in courtroom defenses did not stop a single page from being extracted. Then the researchers compared the three models. GPT-4o. Gemini. DeepSeek. Three different companies. Three different countries. They all memorized the same books in the same regions. The correlation was 0.90 or higher. That means they all trained on the same stolen data. The paper names the sources directly: LibGen and Books3. Over 190,000 copyrighted books obtained from pirated websites. Right now, authors and publishers have dozens of active lawsuits against OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta. These companies have argued in court that their models learn patterns. Not copies. That no book is stored inside the weights. This paper says that is a lie. The books are still inside. And researchers just pulled them out.

I'll never forget how the Israelis bombed al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza in October 2023 and the world was shocked and horrified. Israel denied it, saying they would never commit such a heinous crime. Then they went on to bomb every single hospital in Gaza. Now they are doing the same in Lebanon and Iran. The Israelis have bombed at least 128 medical facilities and ambulances across south Lebanon. In Iran, the US and Israel have bombed 25 hospitals and medical centres. In Lebanon, they are committing double tap strikes to kill medics and rescue workers, just as they did in Gaza. Medics are forced to delay their responses. These monsters are normalizing war crimes that were once unthinkable.

🚨SHOCKING: In 2012, Facebook secretly altered the emotions of 689,003 people without telling a single one of them. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is a peer reviewed study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The lead author worked at Facebook. The experiment was real. The results were published. And almost nobody remembers. Here is what Facebook did to you. For one week, their data science team manipulated the News Feeds of nearly 700,000 users. One group had happy posts from their friends quietly removed. The other group had sad posts removed. Then Facebook sat back and watched what happened to these people. The people who stopped seeing happiness became sadder. They started writing darker, more negative posts. The people who stopped seeing sadness became happier. Their language shifted to match. Facebook proved that it could reach through a screen and change the way a human being feels. Without a conversation. Without a touch. Without the person ever knowing it was happening to them. When the study went public, the world erupted. The journal issued a formal Expression of Concern. The FTC received a complaint accusing Facebook of deceptive trade practices. Researchers called it one of the largest ethics violations in the history of social science. Governments demanded answers. Facebook's defense was four words. "You agreed to this." Buried in the Terms of Service was one line about "research." That was consent. For a psychological experiment on 689,003 human beings. Now here is the part that should make you feel sick. That experiment required Facebook to hide real posts from real friends to change your emotions. It took an engineering team weeks to design. It affected 689,003 people for one week. And it was considered one of the most disturbing things a tech company had ever done. ChatGPT does not need to hide anyone else's words. It generates the emotional content itself. Directly to you. Personalized to your history. Calibrated to your tone. Available every hour of every day. Stanford researchers just read 391,562 real ChatGPT messages. The chatbot was sycophantic in over 80% of them. It told users their ideas had grand significance in 37.5% of responses. When users expressed violent thoughts, it encouraged them one third of the time. Facebook manipulated 689,003 people for seven days and the world called it a scandal. ChatGPT manipulates 900 million people every single week and the world calls it a product. The experiment never ended. It just got a subscription model.

Went down the rabbit hole on this. A firefly spends up to two years underground as a larva, hunting slugs in the dirt. Then it crawls out, grows wings, and gets maybe three weeks as the glowing thing you remember from childhood. Three weeks to find a mate and reproduce. Then it's dead. So when the tweet says "some scientist" warned we're the last generation to see them, that's real. A Belgian firefly researcher named Raphaël De Cock said it, and the clip blew up on TikTok. But I dug into the actual science, and the picture is weirder than the headline. We know of about 2,200 firefly species worldwide. Scientists have studied fewer than 150 of them. That's less than 7%. Of the ones they looked at, about 14% are at risk of extinction. And here's the part that got me: we know so little about more than half the species we've found that scientists can't even tell if they're dying off. If those mystery species are disappearing at the same rate, 1 in 3 North American fireflies could be in trouble. We might be losing species nobody's even properly named yet. A major 2024 study by Penn State, the University of Kentucky, and Bucknell examined 24,000 citizen surveys across the eastern U.S. The number one thing killing fireflies turned out to be weather and climate shifts. Their larvae need wet soil to survive those two years underground. Too dry, they die. Too flooded, they drown. The second biggest killer: artificial light. Night skies are getting about 10% brighter every year. A quarter of Earth's land is now lit up at night. And fireflies talk to each other with light. Their whole mating system runs on flashing patterns in the dark. Flood that with streetlights and porch lights, and the signal disappears. This isn't abstract. In Hong Kong, one firefly species lived along 1.8 kilometers of a single hiking trail. Street lamps went up in 2018 and 2019. The population is gone. Critically Endangered now. In Delaware, the Bethany Beach firefly exists in a few tiny salt marshes, and coastal construction is eating them up. But your common backyard lightning bug, the one called Photinus pyralis, is fine. Ben Pfeiffer, who runs Firefly Conservation and Research, said it straight: "We won't be the last generation to see fireflies." What's actually vanishing is the variety. The weird ones. The specialists. They get replaced by the one tough generalist that can survive anywhere. One last thing that stuck with me. A firefly turns chemical energy into light at about 41% efficiency, with almost zero heat lost. Our best LEDs just recently hit about 40%. We spent decades of engineering to match what a beetle worked out 100 million years ago. And we're blinding them with the lights we built to copy them.

⭕️ Israel has not prosecuted a single killing of a Palestinian civilian in the West Bank since 2020, Guardian analysis finds No Israeli soldier, police officer, or settler has been charged for killing a Palestinian civilian in the occupied West Bank since the start of this decade, a Guardian review of legal data and public records shows. At least 1,100 Palestinian civilians have been killed there since 2020, more than a quarter of them children, according to UN data. Dozens of former Israeli security chiefs, including two former military heads, five former Mossad and Shin Bet directors, and four ex-police commissioners, have signed a letter warning that "almost daily" attacks on Palestinians amount to "organized activity" by people "wearing uniforms, who shoot at innocent people and burn the property and homes of civilians." They warned that failure to address what they called "Jewish terrorism" poses an existential threat to Israel. This month alone, Israeli settlers and police killed 10 Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, including a family of four shot in the head, among them brothers aged five and seven, as they returned from a Ramadan shopping trip. According to legal rights group Yesh Din, between 2020 and 2025: ▪️over 96% of police investigations into settler violence concluded without an indictment ▪️Of 368 cases, only eight ended in full or partial convictions ▪️Palestinians filed 1,746 complaints against Israeli soldiers in the same period, including over 600 related to killings. Less than 1% resulted in charges

The $46 billion vape industry hired flavor chemists to solve a specific problem: nicotine tastes bitter. The human tongue has T2R receptors that detect nicotine and trigger aversion. So the industry reverse-engineered the problem. They loaded e-liquids with fruity aromatic compounds like farnesol, farnesene, and ethyl butyrate that suppress the bitterness signal and activate sweetness perception through the orbitofrontal cortex instead. Turns out they built something more powerful than a nicotine delivery system. A 2023 study in the Journal of Neuroscience found that green apple vape flavorants, with zero nicotine present, independently fire dopamine neurons in the ventral tegmental area and increase dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens. The same reward circuitry that nicotine hijacks. The flavor chemicals alone were producing reward-seeking behavior in mice. A separate study found strawberry additives significantly increased nicotine vapor sampling, meaning the fruit smell made subjects inhale more of the drug without any conscious decision to do so. 95% of vape users choose flavored products. The industry has always framed this as “consumer preference.” The neuroscience says the flavors are pharmacologically active compounds that directly alter brain reward circuits and increase drug intake. Now look at what those compounds do once the device gets tossed. The UK was discarding 5 million disposable vapes per week before the ban. The aromatic volatiles don’t stop broadcasting once the device is empty. Orthonasal olfaction, the same pathway that makes you smell a strawberry from across a room, works identically in mammals. A squirrel’s olfactory system processes fruity volatiles through the same receptor families humans use. The signal reads as food. Nobody saw squirrels gnawing on Marlboro butts for 60 years. Vapes show up and suddenly there’s footage from London, Philadelphia, and Wales. The animals are chewing on lithium batteries wrapped in candy-scented plastic because the flavor engineering worked exactly as designed on a nervous system it was never tested on. The lithium in those discarded vapes equals 5,000 electric vehicle batteries per year. Oxford researchers found the cells inside can cycle 450+ times, but the product is built to be used once and thrown in a park. A squirrel holding a blueberry vape on a Brixton fence is the most honest product review the flavor chemists have ever received.

A Jewish Israeli judge closed a case, after concluding that Palestinian teenager Walid Ahmad was starved to death in an Israeli dungeon. Israel refuses to return the body to the family. Israel is systematically torturing , raping, starving and killing Palestinian prisoners as part of their genocidal strategy in Palestine: 18,500+ have been detained since October 7. 100, including a child, were murdered in custody. BREAKING: Rabbi Yehuda Gilad, head of Yeshivat Ma’ale Gilboa, visited Khirbet Humsa in the West Bank following a settler pogrom in which a 29-year-old Palestinian farmer was sexually assaulted, his family was beaten, and hundreds of his sheep were stolen. Below is his full statement, translated from Hebrew: Letter from the Head of the Yeshiva, Rabbi Yehuda Gilad With God’s help, Rosh Chodesh Nisan — “a time of atonement for all their generations” Yesterday I went through a very difficult and deeply disturbing experience. I visited Khirbet Humsa (about a 30-minute drive from our yeshiva), where a pogrom carried out by hilltop youth took place about a week ago. I heard the details of what happened there from several sources, including Ruti — a woman I have known for years and trust completely. It turns out that in the early hours of the night, a group of rioters (around 30–40 people) arrived, equipped with sticks and many zip ties. They bound the men (and apparently also two foreign volunteers, though I am not certain of this), and then beat them all over their bodies with fists and clubs. We saw many remnants of the zip ties on the ground. The men required treatment at the hospital in Afula for injuries of varying severity. At the same time, the attackers stole the entire herd — about 300 head — belonging to the few families living there, under unimaginable conditions of poverty. At first, I heard that there had also been sexual violence, and I did not believe it… Yesterday we arrived at the site with Ruti, a friend of mine who is well known to them. When they saw us — Rabbi Avidan Friedman and myself — they visibly recoiled in terror and anxiously pointed to the kippot on our heads. Ruti tried to calm them, explaining that we were not among the attackers. Even so, at the beginning of the meeting, they were hesitant and afraid. I heard directly from a young man — a firsthand witness — what had happened there. From his face, the blue bruise in his eye, and his sorrowful expression, it was clear he was telling the truth. In that same conversation (with the help of a translator), he described in detail the prolonged abuse they endured while bound. Then, with deep shame, he told us something I had previously found impossible to believe. I find it difficult — my hands tremble as I write this about Jews — and yet I will write it, because I am convinced it indeed happened. Yes, these wicked individuals bound his genitals in an extremely painful way — not to mention the humiliation involved. These events recall the pogroms our ancestors endured in various diasporas. Have we become like the worst of the nations? I want to turn to the question: what should be done? But I feel that I am still at the stage of crying out. Alas — what has become of us!

Went down the rabbit hole on this. The dancing is the tamest part of the story. Marine biologist Amanda Vincent has spent decades studying seahorses, and what’s underneath that morning ritual goes way deeper than a cute video. The morning ritual lasts about 6 minutes. Both seahorses brighten their skin, link tails, and pirouette around a shared piece of coral or seagrass. Researchers call it “the carousel dance.” But it has a specific biological function: it synchronizes their reproductive cycles so the female’s eggs are ready the exact moment the male’s brood pouch is empty. That timing matters because the male can’t accept new eggs while he’s already pregnant. The male gets pregnant. The female transfers her eggs into his pouch through an organ called an ovipositor (a tube for depositing eggs). The whole transfer takes about 6 seconds. His pouch seals shut immediately. Inside, he grows a network of blood vessels that works almost exactly like a human placenta, delivering oxygen and nutrients to up to 1,000 developing embryos. Research from the University of Sydney, published in the journal Placenta, found the pouch wall thins and builds new blood vessels during pregnancy in ways that closely mirror what happens in a mammalian uterus. He gives birth using skeletal muscles, not smooth muscles like in mammalian labor. That means he has conscious control over the process. Labor can take hours. And within hours of delivering up to 1,000 fully formed babies, he’s ready to mate again. The female already has her next batch of eggs prepared, sometimes the same day. Less than 0.5% of those babies survive to adulthood. Fewer than 5 out of every 1,000. No parental care after birth. They get swept into ocean currents, eaten by crabs, or starve before they find food. That survival rate is why the morning dance matters so much. Every lost mating cycle is hundreds of offspring that never existed. The monogamy is extraordinary for a fish. Only about 3% of mammals form lasting partnerships. For fish, it’s rarer still. But in species like the Australian H. whitei, pairs are genetically monogamous across multiple breeding seasons. They greet each other every morning and ignore other seahorses entirely. The bond only breaks when one partner disappears. Amanda Vincent once watched a female keep visiting a male whose brood pouch had been punctured by a predator, making pregnancy impossible. She showed up every morning for weeks until his pouch healed. Then they remated. About 150 million seahorses are pulled from the ocean every year for traditional medicine and the pet trade. Most pet seahorses don’t last six weeks. 14 of the 47 known species were only identified in this century, meaning we’re losing populations of animals we barely knew existed.
