Need more commercial growth to ease ag/residential burden. For what it’s worth, the Diamond Trail wind development should share some tax burden as TIF phases out.

@IowaBusiness @ZachLahn Great question. Everyone just continues to keep raising their budgets, and the supervisors approve it. The schools keep pushing new bonds as well, but most have those haven’t passed.

If they want to be here they need to add value to the community.
We’re giving $100m+ in property tax relief to $100b+ companies to create a few dozen long term jobs.
It should be the opposite. They pay more and we use those funds to lower property taxes for Iowa residents.

@EthanMorford @ZachLahn Thanks for bringing this to attention. As a nonresident taxpayer in Iowa Co (taxation without representation vibes), I looked into it a bit. The big FY27 tax jump appears to be due to debt service rising from $387k to $1.04M for $6M GO on public safety radio/EMA upgrade.
