today, i almost got hacked. i was literally ONE CLICK away from losing 2 mil i've been friends with @chang_defi for years. his telegram got hacked a few days back, people on twitter knew but i wasn't aware today, i got a message from his telegram. it spoke quite casual, so i didn't think of anything "are you free now?" he asked i answered yes and told him to call me he sent me a weird link. since i was partying last night, i was super dead and just clicked it. it opened the website, it showed a meeting room with multiple people in there and simultaneously, without me clicking any additional button, it auto-downloaded a zip file. it's not my first rodeo, so immediately my internal alarm went on. why do i need to download software for a call i still thought it was chang, but i didn't want to risk it, so i asked him a personal question that only he knows the answer to. i also asked him to give me a quick call on telegram he evaded the questions and his explanation made sense. he said that he was in the room, in a call, so he couldn't call me. but even when i got paranoid and really started pressing him, he didn't answer my question. so i knew something was wrong, so i started comparing his writing style. that's when i found more discrepancies: he asked me "Are you free now". first of all, chang would write it like "r u free now" and second of all, he has never capitalised a letter in any interaction with me before. and even though chang and i talk in slang all the time, this nigga couldn't even write proper english, he sounded like a chinese person writing english. it wasn't definite proof, but it was enough for me to bring out the big guns i am friends with one of the most ELITE security researchers in this space. he is on samczsun level. i immediately called him to check out what happened. he asked me some questions and immediately told me to turn off my computer. i did. he then asked me to send him a photo of the link i pressed. i did. he quickly found out that it was a malicious phishing link that you could purchase for 3k usd a month. it was known in the hacker space at this point, i really got worried. i don't have a lot of crypto on a hot wallet, but i had 2 mil open and i didn't know if i already got hacked or if i was safe. "come over, we'll take a look" my friend said i packed my laptop, grabbed a cigarette, took 5 drags, tossed the ciggy and jumped into a cab to my friend's hotel, we are both in hk right now" upon arrival, he took my computer and started his due diligence: - he first went to my terminal to see if there was any suspicious activity RIGHT NOW - he then checked my history if there was any suspicious activity before - he then downloaded the malicious malware on a virtual machine to run some tests at the end of the day, i was lucky. i downloaded the zip file but in order for them to phish me, i needed to execute the program, which i didn't he almost got me dou, i was tired and not careful bc the message came from a friend's telegram, but luckily my instincts saved me this time be careful friends, crypto is a dangerous place, even ogs like me can get hacked. i am going to upgrade my security now NEVER open any link that's sent to you. always confirm with a personal question that only they know, it doesn't matter who writes you, the chances of being hacked are just too high i put my team on this guy now. i already know his wallet and binance bc @varrock tricked him. kid, if you read this, let me tell you now: if you have a kyced account at binance, i will find you. and i'm gonna personally come to you. you blocked me on telegram, i will give you one chance to unblock me and BUY your freedom. if you don't write me back in the next 24 hours, i am coming for you. gl
