I would have thought somebody that ill would have avoided contact with everyone- tegardless of possible underlying cause- isnt that what COVID taught us? It shouldn’t require a doctor surely

Medicines and global warming: a complex problem Read the editorial by @JAHCave on why it's not just about swapping to dry powder inhalers and the importance of taking a holistic approach to tackling the issue. bit.ly/4a5ZiIy

#NICEConf23 some rather generic sessions so far in Manchester. Fascinating how X/Twitter has fallen by the wayside at these sorts of conferences. Gone has the live feeds. As said “ innovation has redundancy built in”

Redaction at the heart of NICE appraisals In the September editorial @JAHCave takes NICE to task over the amount of information that is redacted in its technical appraisals. bit.ly/3ODzV9s

NICE produces technical appraisals of drugs to support clinicians and patients in their choice of the right treatments. Yet in 80% of their appraisals vital evidence and information is redacted. Our editorial in @DTB_BMJ this month dtb.bmj.com/content/early/…

NICE’s TA on #mavacamten takes their redactions to a whole new level. Usually its just the less important stuff like the evidence of effectiveness or cost- but in this TA we arent even allowed to know what to use it for? See nice.org.uk/guidance/gid-t… #MHRA #NICE

@adamsonjon More to the point do doctors still really take the oath? Worship Greek Gods? train children of their professors for nothing? never carry out surgery on kidney and gall stones? No-one qualifying from Barts in the 1980s took it for sure

Commentators and politicians really need to understand that when they think they are being clever invoking (the only four words anyone knows from) the Hippocratic oath, anyone in medicine immediately recognises it as a sure fire sign they don’t know what they are talking about

The Junior Doctors’ strike is causing serious risk of loss of life. Today I asked the Prime Minister when the British Medical Association abandoned the principle of ‘First, do no harm’.

@GPDrYvetteDoc Our DNA rate is very low. I’m prepared to get shot at for saying this but i think the DNA rate can reflect the inflexibility of our appointments system. Pts who DNA possibly were after something else or are struggling with a really difficult issue. Call them?

@LG_NHS @tbugembe @parthaskar @NuffieldTrust Hey, 1. The email clearly says it is a Trust Decision and not an individual decision 2. It also says most other trusts in London are following the same. Bullying & Lying Both in one email - 😡
