Missed out on the Exodus Unlocked Escape Room🔐? Today is the perfect day to book your experience💫! jcm.museum/escape/ Here’s why: Today is Pesach Sheini, a day all about second chances. In the second year after leaving Egypt, several people were unable to bring the Pesach offering🐑 because they were spiritually impure. Not wanting to miss the Mitzvah, they asked Moshe (Moses) for another opportunity🔄. In response, Pesach Sheini was established: a second chance to offer the sacrifice exactly one month later📅. To this day, Pesach Sheini is a reminder that it is never too late! Even if we mess up or miss out, we always have a second chance. 🌷Shabbat Shalom🌷 Light candles in NYC @ 7:34 pm.🕯️🕯️ Parshat Emor

Welcome to the crayon journey👋🖍️, where we will gather our 3 main ingredients! 📍1st stop: Brazil! There, we’ll need to harvest carnauba wax from the leaves of a carnauba tree 🌴. 📍2nd stop: We’ll visit the home of the bees, where we'll extract beeswax from a honeycomb🐝. 📍3rd and final stop: Cacao trees all the way in West Africa! We’ll need to harvest some cacao beans, grind them into cacao nibs, and process them to make cocoa butter🍫🧈. Lastly, we’ll melt these ingredients together, add a few drops of dye, pour the mixture into a mold, and voila! - A beautiful crayon is born!

The Making of the Jewish Children’s Museum The Jewish Children’s Museum opened in 2004, after the success of the first Jewish Children’s Expo in 1986 at the Jacob Javits Center. The expo revealed just how much families wanted a Jewish museum, especially for children. The museum is dedicated in memory of Ari Halberstam, a beloved teenager killed in a terrorist attack. It carries forward his legacy of joy, hope, education, and understanding for future generations of children. Before it became the Museum Before it became the museum, 792–796 Eastern Parkway was home to an old Brooklyn building called Parkway Court, where people lived. The bottom floor even boasted a grocery store! The Museum Today Today, the Jewish Children’s Museum is filled with hands-on exhibits where children can explore Jewish life, values, traditions, and holidays, while traveling through the story of Jewish history from Biblical times to today. The museum also offers special seasonal workshops and programs. From an old Brooklyn building to a spot where Jewish life and history come alive for children. From real-life errands to a kid-sized world of kosher shopping. #historyofcrownheights

Hi👋, my name is Meyer. I am the workshop and gameshow host here at the Jewish Children’s Museum! My favorite is the Rashi exhibit. Even though Rashi (Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki) lived nearly a thousand years ago, his commentary on the Torah is still alive and studied by people - including children - even to this day! In the exhibit, I like how the words of the Passuk (verse) light up 💡 when you slide the bar over the words, showing how Rashi’s commentary illuminates the Torah. 🌷Shabbat Shalom🌷 Light candles in NYC @ 7:27 pm.🕯️🕯️ Parshat Acharei-Kedoshim

The 28th of the Jewish Month of Nissan (today) marks the day🗓️ that the Jewish people conquered the city of Yericho. This was the first battle they fought when they came to the land of Israel. The city was conquered in a miraculous way, the Jews circled to the city 7️⃣ times, then blew the Shofar. All of a sudden the city’s fortifying walls🧱 came crashing down and with G-ds help the Jewish people were easily able to overcome the city✨. Check out next post for part 2

Mixed media art🎨 - what is that? Here at the Jewish Children’s Museum, children are learning the technique of mixed media art while creating their very own tambourines🎶. Mixed media art is when you combine together a few types of art materials 🎨🖍️✂️💎to create one single art piece. Come try it out for yourself🤩. @‌nysca

The night before Passover is very busy. Families clean their homes and search🔍 for chametz🍞 to get ready for the holiday. Rabbi Dov Ber, the Maggid, usually prayed quickly so he could start the search right away. But one year, he prayed for a very long time📖⌚ and didn’t begin the search at all. His students were confused. When they asked him why, he explained, “Heaven is not letting me search yet. Somewhere nearby is a Jew who has no matzah for Passover. I cannot begin until we help him.” The students searched everywhere but couldn’t find anyone. The Maggid told them to keep looking👀 - even outside the city. Finally, they found a poor tailor in a small village. He had always helped others, but this year he was sick😢 and had no money, not even for matzah. The students happily brought him to the Maggid. The Maggid gave him money💰 for Passover and to help others too. Only then did he begin the search🔍 for chametz—with great joy. Have we done everything we can to ensure that every Jew has what he or she needs for Passover? How about those who are distant and isolated? 🌷Wishing you A Happy Passover🌷 Light candles in NYC on Wednesday @ 7:03 pm.🕯️🕯️ Thursday @ 8:03 pm.🕯️🕯️ Friday @ 7:05 pm.🕯️🕯️
