I genuinely believe that the zutara fans that project their childhood (or even current) crush on Zuko onto Katara come from a place of bitterness that the person they see themselves in (Katara) isn’t as similar to them as they’d like to believe.

Katara fumbled because she *checks notes* started a relationship with Aang, the person she actually loved? Not to mention the fact that eventually she and him got married and started a family together. That doesn't really sound like a fumble to me.
