Yearly rant…coaches it is very important to remember why we do what we do, it isn’t for money and it isn’t for fame, winning is nice but at the end of the day the lessons we teach and how we DEVELOP these kids through sports is far more important than anything….

Let me help some folks out HS T&F seniors and juniors Follow these steps to help you find the school that fits you best (not one size fits all) 1. Go to tfrrs.org and click on outdoor lists 2. Select a conference and pick the gender that applies to you. Click on that list 3. Find an athlete in your events and click on one that has either their confrence or ncaa result listed 4. Click on the conference or ncaa results and look at the results of the final and the qualifying round 5. Here’s a pivot moment for you: Compare and contrast your performances to the results of the postseason meet. A. If you are nowhere close to making a final, scoring or winning, the best bet is to go back to the outdoor list screen and keep clicking until you find at least a conference you can make a final in OR you can try to contact the coach and see if the reply. B. If you can make the final or at least close, shoot your shot. 6. If you fall under option 5A, keep repeating 1-5 in each division to find a program that values the production you can bring. If/when you fall under option 5B, contact the coaches at any of those schools with grades, test scores, milesplit/athletic.net profile, and videos that clearly show what lane you are in and the meet result. 7. Ask good questions of the coaches: what is the value of my event area to the success of the team in the postseason, do they have the major you are looking for, etc. Make sure you Never Misrepresent an offer or your recruiting status at other schools (coaches talk and know each other) Let a Coach/Parent/etc do ALL the talking and asking questions. College coaches will be coaching YOU, not your parents or Hs/Club coaches. College coaches want to get to know you, not negotiate with “agents” We want your people involved but they can’t be the sole voice heard. Mess around sending information a coach requests like transcripts and ncaa id numbers. Communicate any delays in sending information. If you aren’t interested, communicate. Take open and honest feedback personally. Coaches will miss out on people from time to time just like athletes miss out on great opportunities from time to time. Move with desperation. Desperate people will do things outside of their character. Maintain your ethics Again, this isn’t one size fits all but it may help.

The coach-athlete relationship trumps technical knowledge but most coach education programs teach content delivery instead of relationship building. Research shows elite coaches prioritize connection over correction. Your expertise is worthless if athletes dont trust your process

@KoachVaughn The culture has turned from winning football games to looking good on commercials 🤣 the cowboys won’t start winning again until they quit caring about being the “Dallas Cowboys”

Everyday that goes by that this doesn’t get resolved chips away at the culture of this team. I seriously dislike the Joneses. They keep doing the same thing each year. It has proven not to work. Stay out of the front. Leave the mic and the cameras alone. Let the players and coaches be up front.
Joseph Hoyt@JoeJHoyt

Jerry Jones says that he isn’t considering trading Micah Parsons, despite his trade request. Jones said about the deal that was on the table in March? “Micah took it off the table.” More coming soon on @dallasnews.
