@EUstaran Perhaps anxiety is a justified response when you discover a critical gap in a vital established process that can't be fixed in an afternoon. Especially when the guidance suggests that the process should stop until the gap has been resolved.

After all these years, I don’t think I had ever seen the level of anxiety around international data transfers that I have seen this week. The law hasn’t changed for 25 years and the mechanisms to legitimise transfers under #GDPR are well trodden. Why the anxiety??

Unprecedented (=largest ever) #GDPR enforcement action by @ICOnews for a data security breach. Lots to digest (114 page report!) but a key message is that while not all successful cyberattacks amount to a breach, a failure to secure systems in an appropriate manner will.

Cookie consent under the #ePrivacy Directive is a mess and needs rethinking, but if there is something crystal clear in the law is that claiming reliance on ‘legitimate interests’ to drop ANY cookies is useless because notice & consent are compulsory unless an exemption applies.
