@mjgoodenco @AuctionsPlus Agreed, it should be compulsory to put in the assessment. Then buyers know they are getting what was actually assessed and puts pressure on seller to ensure they are actually tagged.

@JessShilling2 @AuctionsPlus I see the main issue being the change of responsibility. If you sell livestock to the yards its there responsibility to do transfer, but when buying from A+ its yours. This needs to be clearly understood. It would be a great move if the assessment included the NLIS information

AuctionsPlus users - is anyone else frustrated by the lack of NLIS integration? Great platform for buying/selling, but having no ability to transfer NLIS data is frustrating. It's been suggested multiple times, but haven't seen any changes yet. What do others think? @AuctionsPlus

@BrettPage72 @AuctionsPlus I agree responsibility should be the buyers but it's not hard to have the NLIS data there so the file could be downloaded and transferred same day without having to rescan the animals. Could be days/weeks/months before they come through the yards again depending on the situation.

@JessShilling2 @AuctionsPlus Agreed , but maintaining the database is always the buyers responsibility. But the reality is it’s not the hard to include it in the service

@Willandrafarm I was told by DPIRD yesterday that we can expect an answer about in about a week, with regards to what the transition will look like. Looks to still be no contact tracing at this point.

@JessShilling2 Now October 12 and no statement/directive from Govt/DPIRD re: moving forward with BJD in WA. The current approach of “it’s all too hard” has many negative implications. Need clarity around future individual responsibilities and what the real risk to WA industry looks like.

@pbl1972 @JeisaneAccioly As @JeisaneAccioly said, it's >400 "contact" farms that have either sources potential infected cattle either directly or indirectly. So the initial farm has not necessarily sold cattle to that number of farms over the risk period.

Bovine Johnes has been detected in WA. We are awaiting a decision from DPIRD as to whether quaratine and eradication will take place, or whether the disease will be deregulated. We will keep you updated with more info as we receive it. abc.net.au/radio/programs…

@MarkBai24763905 @JeisaneAccioly From my understanding, cattle from the initial infected farm have gone through the state, so exact location is not really relevant to the course of the disease.

@GlenridgePark @AlannahMac Thanks for raising this Lyn, as it's a great concern to me. Both from an animal welfare point of view, as well as human welfare/social impact on producers. We must make it clear to the department that they need to review their stance. I'm trying to get the word out there.

@JessShilling2 It seems the Dept wants to deregulate and NOT notify contact properties. Contact properties MUST be notified for producers to manage their risk and the welfare of their cattle @AlannahMac
