Murray Rothbard (1990) called Hoppe's argumentation ethics a "libertarian extension" of the "Habermas-Apel doctrine." He also repeatedly touted Hoppe's Habermasian credentials.
Rothbard didn't consider that "superficial" at all. On what basis do you, Stephan?

it's not only superficial, it's ... a big nothing burger. I mean Hoppe drew on many things to come up with his argumentation ethics defense of libertarian rights: some insights from Habermas-Apel, some from Rothbard, some from Mises/praxeology. So what? Magness reminds me of the Objectivist who has read their summaries of Kant and then tries to impress his uncle at Thanksgiving by name-dropping and things he really knows almost nothing about, all in a pathetic attempt to smear, use guilt by association, ad hominem, bad-faith strawmen, and so on, out of some white male guilt to show the overlords he is really safe and not a threat to the 4x6 card of allowable opinion.

The New York Times is now describing Iran's very normal acts of self-defense - shooting down American jets that are BOMBING THEIR FUCKING COUNTRY - as an "escalation from Iran's leadership." Completely unhinged to publish stuff like this.

Oh, I have, and it makes me doubly sad to see friends and allies hobbled by the same temptations. I've seen this same dynamic over the years with the "thick" and "thin" libertarians, and dustup over borders, and all the rest, when it seems to me we should work together to promote peace and freedom.
