5,000 Marines are more than enough to take Kharg Island. Right now, however, the objective is to secure The Strait of Hormuz. Part of securing the strait requires clearing Iranian Offensive capabilities along the coast of the strait. 5,000 Marines can do that.

Meanwhile in America, they prefer to spend their money in other ways.
The US spent hundreds of millions making 30,000 pound bunker buster bombs to use with the B-2 Spirit “stealth” bomber to fly all the way to Iran from Diego Garcia to murder Iranians.
They used up a few of these rather expensive bombs back in June 2025. The Iranian spent a few thousand to cover up the damage with cement. I hear there are not that many 30,000 pound bunker busters left. So, the Americans have resorted to dropping 5,000 pound bunker busters on Iranians. The American must sleep well at night thinking it’s money well spent.
