@ColminIndonesia Visited for the 1st time last week with very low expectations based off everything I'd heard word of mouth... Pleasantly surprised. I would go back, which is not something people may have said 10 years ago

Jakarta’s New Vibe: Open, Inviting, and Confident Having lived in Jakarta for a few years now, I've noticed a positive trend that’s making the city feel more open and inviting. In the past, Jakarta has often felt a bit cold and unapproachable to me, with much of the city hidden behind high walls and heavy security - from ministries and offices to shops, restaurants, and especially private housing. The city seemed to me to be in a constant state of defence, with high walls and barred windows a common sight, perhaps due to security concerns in the past. But more recently, I feel I'm noticing a welcome shift. As offices, government buildings, restaurants, and shops undergo renovations - it seems to me that many imposing walls are coming down, replaced by more welcoming, open designs. Cycling through the city, I’m now more often greeted by front gardens, glass fronted cafes, and shops that invite you in rather than shutting you out. The Jakarta City Government has also been playing a positive role, improving city roads, fixing potholes, adding more pavements (sidewalks if you're American), and enhancing public transport. Don’t get me wrong - there’s still a long, long way to go - but it’s hugely encouraging and uplifting to live in a city that feels like it’s growing in confidence. Jakarta isn’t hiding anymore or on the defensive; these days, it feels proud and confident. Living here feels like being part of a city that’s ready to be seen and (finally) appreciated for all it has to offer. It’s sometimes been said that “Jakarta is a tough city to love” - I don’t think that’s true anymore. I think Jakarta is perhaps Southeast Asia’s best-kept secret. What do you think? #jakartalife #Indonesia

@ColminIndonesia Yeah I was pleasantly surprised. On entry with the whole theme park vibe going on I wasn't quite sure, but once I found the Panjat Pinang it was brilliant. Props to all of them going at it for an hour in the sun!

@JoshEdwardsFilm Awesome - I think Ancol is the best place for Panjat Pinang in Jakarta

So Jakarta people, where will be the best places tomorrow to watch some Panjat Pinang action? I've heard Ancol, but am wondering if they'll be any traditional games in Central / South Jakarta? #jakartalife

@JoshEdwardsFilm Hi @JoshEdwardsFilm So, I've found out that there is a Panjat Pinang pole set up here (see flag) and that apparently there will be some action here tomorrow at 12pm.

🎥🔊 The last of my "sights and sounds" from Nepal. This set is from the last episode, showcasing beautiful scenes at the roof of the world... I could spend years filming out here and never get bored 😍

I really liked the full-circle feeling on arrival at Muktinath Temple. To have crossed the Thorong La Pass and found ourselves among the temples and worshippers of Nepal once again, just like we had been at the start of this adventure, back in Kathmandu🏯

🎥🔊 The sights and sounds of life in Manang When you get this high up in the mountains, it starts to get real quiet. Less people, vehicles and human settlements…a lot less noise 🙏🏼

🎬 “It was a weird sensation. You’re suffering so much…but this is what you asked for” Taking on the Thorong La Pass with a severe bout of altitude sickness remains the hardest thing I’ve done so far, and I hope I never feel like that again 😂

📷🐆 One of the highlights from making this film was having the chance to sit down with photographer Tashi R Ghale and chat about his many years of experience documenting the snow leopard through both photos and video. A lovely guy and incredible work he's doing in Manang!
