In April, I shared with you that my daughter Caton had applied to run the NYC Marathon as part of Team @StopSarcoidosis supporting the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research. Ironically later that day, Caton was informed that she was selected to be one of five to represent the foundation this year. If her telling me that she applied didn't absolutely floor me, the realization that she was dedicating her time and efforts to me and many others certainly did. As many of you are aware, I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis in 2014. It has greatly impacted all of our lives but through the support of ALL of you, I have found a way to still be impactful by focusing on what I have and not what I've lost. Truth be told, I regret it took me as long as it did to come to that realization. Caton and I have shared a unique bond as Father and Daughter...and my profile page proudly boasts #GirlDad. A lot of that was through athletics and competition. I have been proud of her accomplishments on the field as a player and a leader. She was the teammate that every player needs to have and more of us should aspire to be. BUT....I can't say she ever liked running. When her playing days were over she came to me with the following statement, "Dad, I'm figuring out that as a former player, when you stop playing, you do one of two things, you either run or you golf. So do we still have some clubs in the basement for me?" So please support Caton in her quest to run 26.2 miles on the first Sunday in November. And continue to support me and others in the ways that you all have through the years. The link for financial contributions that will go directly to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research is attached and any donation is appreciated. There is no donation too small. Please gift if able. But if not, continue to find ways to support me and others who suffer not only from Sarcoidosis but perhaps another illness or situation.
