@rebjmcd Some weeks, yes. Some weeks are less busy so you do have free time or you can sacrifice an hour or two of sleep to do what you love! It’s all a crazy balancing act and I’m still figuring it out 😅
Don’t give up on the dream! My first week on nights I had the scalpel and I actually was the one to get into the chest for an ED thoracotomy!!! All thanks to my amazing seniors 🤩
It’s National Osteopathic Medicine Week and we wanted to take this time to recognize our 7 DO residents! #ThankaDO#NOMWeek.

@SomaticDysfunky Definitely is! You can ask whoever is fastening the neck of your gown to keep it loose. Also making friends with the scrub tech and getting a wet lap or raytec and applying to your wrists can help cool you down
@SomaticDysfunky I would watch surgeries on YouTube before doing them. Knowing what was next and what to expect helped me. Also know your limits. I’ve sat down on stools while scrubbed in because I’ve gotten lightheaded before, and now I’m a surgery resident!

One of the hardest things I wish I knew before medical school was the amount of sacrifice. You are isolated while your family grow old, friends grow apart & people get married, sick and birthdays. All the while, you’re expected to always perform at your peak.
#MedTwitter#GenSurgMatch2022 If you haven't yet, make sure to check out the #ACSCC21 Medical Student Program at the @AmCollSurgeons Clinical Congress. It was so exciting to speak at the Resident Panel: Transitioning into Residency along with my resident colleagues and friends!
