This press conference about #mathematics education in Manitoba gives us something to think about in #BCEd. It speaks to the (mis)perception of the teaching PROFESSION by so many people who do not understand what it is that teachers are actually tasked with: TEACHING. It is complex, it take specialized training and it is ESSENTIAL to a functioning, democratic and just society. The Manitoba NDP government is abolishing all subject requirements for K-8 teachers. They won't have to take basic subjects like math, English, science, or history. Civilizational decline.

Just watched a video about the idea that skill building in sports requires coaching (read as adult instruction). We accept that so easily in Sports related skill development so kids can learn. Why do we want to deprive them of explicit instruction in Education ? We know it works.
